The Minors returned to winning ways last week by defeating Inniskeen in Corduff. In what was a tough, physical game of football there was some clinical finishing by both teams. Corduff were ahead by 2 at the break and were under pressure for long periods of the second half but hung on for a 3 point win. Scorers were Fergal Hanratty 1-7 Killian Hand 2-1.
Seniors:
Once again it was a week of mixed fortunes for Corduff. On another sunny Wednesday evening last week Corduff welcomed neighbours Aughnamullen for R4 of The Monaghan Electrical Intermediate League. Corduff were held scoreless for the first 10 minutes until Jason Hand netted a penalty. Keith McEnaney, Martin Mills and Jason added points and after an impressive half Corduff went in ahead by 4 points on a scoreline of 1-5 to 0-3. Aughnamullenn were on target immediately after the resumption of play and scored 4 unanswered points going level with Corduff in the seventh minute. Very quickly Aughnamullen regained the lead and scores were hard come by for Corduff with a point by Padraic Keenan followed by another penalty taken by Jason Hand which raised the green flag once again. Jason was to add one more point to Corduff’s tally. But Aughnamullen proved too strong and pulled away winning comfortably on a scoreline of 1-13 to 2-6.
R5 of The Monaghan Electrical Intermediate League was played in Corduff last Sunday when the hosts welcomed Drumhowan. Drumhowan opened the scoring followed by a Corduff point. Corduff built on this and raced ahead having a commanding lead of 1-3 to 0-2 by the fifteenth minutes. In a dramatic turnabout Drumhowan launched a comeback and by half time both teams went in level on a scoreline of 1-06 each.
In the second half Corduff regained their lead with some brilliant scores and outscored Drumhowan winning on a scoreline of 1-14 to 1-10.
