U16 League:
The U16s played their first competitive match of the season on Monday last in Round 1 of the U16 League. Corduff got off to a commanding lead with Elena McEnaney on form scoring 3 early goals. Castleblayney returned with a series of points reducing the margain and by half time Corduff were ahead by 1 point on a score line of 3-1 to 9 points. Castleblayney got on the score board within the first minute of the second half and went ahead by 2 points. Both teams dug deep with some great defending and the game was on a knife edge going into injury time. Corduff’s never say die attitude got them over the line with another great goal to seal the deal. What an exciting finish with Corduff winning on a scoreline of 5-3 to Castleblayney 1-14. While everyone including the subs made a huge contribution to this win , credit must be given to Elena for raising the green flag 4 time plus another goal from Sinead Gartlan. The team was as follows Amy Marron, Tara Walsh, Keely Mee, Lorna Hand, Naoise Cunningham, Aoibheann Farrelly, Sadhbh Cassidy, Dearbhla Callan,Chloe Finegan, Becky Carragher, Ellie Comiskey, Aoibheann Crawley and subs Sinead Gartlan, Lauren Culleton, Leona Hill, Aoibheann Corrigan, Georgia Smyth and Shannon Duffy Dunne. Congratulations to Management Pete Cassidy, Declan Kernan and Dermot Hand.
County News:
Corduff Ladies was represented on 3 county teams over the weekend. Only one of the teams was victorious with the u14s beating Down. Once again Elena McEnaney was instrumental in that win making a contribution of 3-2 on the day! As usual a great personal performance from Elena.
The Minors were represented by Eva Woods and Alana Kernan. However Cavan proved too strong on the day. And the senior county ladies were defeated by Kerry in Castleisland. Well done to Laura and Barbara on being part of the Monaghan Senior League panel for 2015.
Registration:
Senior and Minor registration is now due. If you haven’t already registered for 2015 you should attend to that immediately. Contact Treasurer Ann McMahon, Registrar Claire Connolly or and committee member to complete your registration. It’s vital to be registered as this includes the injury fund which covers any medical expenses due to injury or loss of wages which of course we hope won’t occur but cover is necessary.
Strictly Come Dancing:
The dancers have all met their partners and are busy getting their steps right for the May Bank Holiday Weekend. Tickets are currently available through the club.
