Carrickmacross Hurling Notes

U8 &U10 had a blitz Wednesday evening in Kingscourt more on it next week, training for these groups will be Wednesday evening if no blitz from 6 to 7 on the Donaghmoyne road pitch, the club will welcome kids from surrounding parish to join and play hurling with us, hurleys and helmets supplied, text gene 0863655877

U12
 First game is away to Truagh on Monday 27th April, need all players at training
U14 
Had no game this week, training is going ahead, text will go out
U16
Game last Monday is moved to this Friday 17th with away game to Castleblayney at 6-45, 
Minor
 Are at home to Inniskeen this Sunday 19th at 12-00
Seniors
First game was away to Inniskeen last Thursday with a lost of 1-08 to 4-13, scores were David Butler 1-00, Aonghus Mac Suibhne 0-03, Ronan Curran 0-03, Jamie Guigan and Barry Connolly a point each, next game is Thursday at home to Castleblayney at 7-15, good luck to all, 
PRESENTATION NIGHT
What a night in the Shirley Arms last Saturday, full house, good food, great crack and Denis “Rackard” Cody, Killenny kit man for 37 years, with the Liam Mac Carthy, Bob O Keefe, Leinster Minor and All Ireland Minors cups, the night start off with the kids getting pictures of the Liam mac Carthy, as DJ Jayo played tunes in one corner and the Magician entertain the kids in another with the Adults watching slide shots of their kids of years back, telling storys and saying how games was won and lost, lucky for some the hurleys were not out ha ha,  After the food, Brian Whelan MC for the night ask Denis “Rackard” to give a short speech and he told the lads to keep hurling as any thing can be done once you put your mind to it, Then it was the U12 who were up first, as their names were called out Derek Maguire and Gene Beany O Rourke handed them their medals, next was U16 champions who got their medals from Barry Connolly and Shane Mc Kenna, then it was the Minors champions turn, while they got their medals from Sean Guinan, junior player of the year [Demo Crosby plaque] went to Caolan Martin while senior player [Dave Ryan plaque] went to Stephen Corrigan, Brian praise all managers and players and wish them all the best for this year, next was the raffle where there was 6 lucky winners, as the night was coming to a finish our chairman Jimmy Hayse thank everyone for coming, who help out, sponsor prizes for the raffle, Shirley arms, all the players,members and parents for keeping the club and game of hurling going, there was cameras flashing everywhere as all wanted pictures of Denis “Rackard and the cups, Denis give tips and words of wisdom to the lads and stood in for every photo [what a gentleman], all kids went home happy after holding the cups that they only ever saw on TV, check out Carrickmacross Hurling facebook page for pictures of the night, Once again thanks everyone for making it a great night
