Results: It was another busy week for the Ballybay senior team which started with a trip to Magheracloone. For the first time this year Ballybay started the brightest and got on top of the hosts all over the field. This early dominance got its just rewards when Shane McGuiness cut in from the left to drive the ball to the back of the net early on. In fact McGuiness was in inspirational form throughout the hour kicking a number of impressive points. However, Magheracloone slowly got back into the game especially around the middle and used the high ball to good effect, the result of one resulting in them hitting the back of the net. Ballybay to their credit up there performance in the second half and got to grips around the middle helped by moving Brent out and worked some good opportunities but failed to convert them or took the wrong option. All in all the boys deserved at least a point from this performance but it wasn’t to be with Magheracloone winning by the minimum, Magheracloone 1-13 Ballybay 1-12. Team Brian McCabe, Brent Wylie, Fergal Smyth, Ryan Wylie, Aaron Toner, Paul Stuart, Shane McQuillan, Thomas O’Neil, Cillian McAviney, Paul Finlay, Pauric Kerr, Ryan Wylie, Shane McGuiness, Danny Gorman & Christopher McGuiness.
On Saturday evening the seniors were again in action this time at away to Donaghmoyne. Again the boys started strongly which is something that will please the management time. The boys went on to open a 4 point advantage and were winning the personal battles on every line on the field. The first half was probable the most free flowing football that the team has produced so far this year with James Kerr solid at the back, Cillian & Tommy dominate around the middle, Danny acting as a good target man & the two McGuiness lads kicking good scores. However, they were unable to build on this and missed scoring opportunities in the second period where almost the undoing all the good work done in the first half. Donaghmoyne fought back and level entering the final quarter with the game in the melting pot but Ballybay re-grouped and got the last few scores of the game. While the management will be frustrated with the performance to have to take some heart from the battling qualities of the boys. Full time score Donaghmoyne 0-7 Ballybay 0-10. Team Brian McCabe, Brent Wylie, Fergal Smyth, James Kerr, Ciaran Gallighan, Ryan Wylie, Shane McQuillan, Thomas O’Neil, Cillian McAviney, Paul Finlay, Pauric Kerr, Thomas Kerr, Shane McGuiness, Danny Gorman, Christopher McGuiness, Colin Malone & Aaron Toner.
