Ulster Minor Hurling League Division Two
Monaghan 1-6 Tyrone 5-18 14/3/15
Monaghan’s minor hurlers slumped to a heavy defeat against a sharper Tyrone team in Cloghan on Saturday. An impressive Tyrone side wasted no time in opening up an early lead with a blitz of 1-2 by Dearcan Ó Donnghaile and with Josh Ferguson and Brannon Molloy also impressing, they quickly pulled away. Further goals by Ó Donnghaile and Lorcan Devlin had Tyrone ahead by 3-11 to 0-4 at the end of a half in which Monaghan’s only points came from Ronan Curran (two), Conor Flynn and Nathan O’Donoghue. Ferguson netted a brace in the final quarter and even though O’Donoghue got one back, in between points by Omar Duffy and Cathal Power, it was a day to forget for Monaghan, who travel to Cavan next Saturday.
