Peter Sherry
The community of the parish of Tydavnet, and further afield will have been saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Peter Sherry, Edenisland on Sunday in Letterkenny. Peter was taken ill in Páirc Uí Dhomhnaill before the Monaghan v Donegal National Football League game and was rushed to Letterkenny General Hospital by ambulance where he passed away. Peter was an active GAA member throughout his life, representing Scotstown with distinction as a player and official. He won Senior Football Championship medals with the club in 1960 and 1961, before moving into refereeing after his playing days were over. Peter got involved in administration with the club, during which time he held the roles of Chairman and Treasurer. At County level Peter served as Monaghan County Board Chairman from 1977 to 1982. He took a keen interest in all the happenings at club and county level, and was delighted to see both claim some long awaited silverware again in recent years. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis. The club would like to extend sympathy to Peter’s family and friends on their loss.
