Eurotech Junior Football League
Our senior footballers commenced their Eurotech Junior Football League campaign last Saturday 21st March and overcame a stern test from a difficult and dogged Scotstown outfit to take the spoils after an exciting and thoroughly enjoyable match. The game started at a furious pace and for the opening five minutes Scotstown dominated the encounter and controlled proceedings. As the half progressed we eventually got to grips with the pace of the match and made home advantage count and at the end of the first half we enjoyed a four point lead, leading 1-4 to 0-3. The opening ten minutes of the second period were once again controlled by Scotstown as they came out with far more drive and grabbed four unanswered points to level proceedings. After a nervous start the lads showed great character and tenacity and played some solid football to reassert our supremacy and dominated the remainder of the game to claim the victory on a final score-line Rockcorry 1-10 Scotstown 0-10. Please log onto www.rockcorrygaa.ie for a full match report and a selection of action photographs. Their next outing is scheduled for Sunday 12th April when they travel to play Blackhill at 2pm.
Team Captain
Mickey Morgan and his backroom team of Jimmy McGeough and Pascal Smyth have named Niall McKeown to continue on as captain of our senior team. Niall is a young man who has a great work ethic and has shown on many occasions his many talents and all-round ability on the playing field. He certainly leads by example and brings a great attitude to the squad and on behalf of the management committee and indeed all our supporters I would like to wish Niall the very best of luck during his captaincy and hopefully he will inspire his team-mates to achieve something very special in 2015.

Monaghan Under 21
Well done to the Monaghan under 21 team who booked their place in the semi-final of the Ulster Championship courtesy of a 0-15 to 1-8 victory over Derry last Wednesday 18th March at Inniskeen. The starting team featured our very own Fergal McGeough who registered 0-3 from the full-forward position. Well done Fergal it’s a great achievement to wear the county colours and represent your county and all the best in the semi-final when they take on Donegal on Wednesday 1st April.
Gerry’s Prepared Veg Ballybay – Under 12
Our under 12 footballers commenced their Spring League campaign last Saturday 21st March when they travelled to Threemilehouse to play Sean McDermott’s. The game was played in perfect conditions with glorious sunshine and on a flawless sod and proved to be a compelling encounter which served up some quality football. The home side started the sharpest and hit the ground running and controlled proceedings during the opening ten minutes and quickly established a healthy 0-6 to 0-0 advantage. We were slow to settle but for the next ten minutes we played some delightful football and fired over some cracking scores from the boots of Adam Elliot, James O’Brien and David Calvert to leave the score at the half time interval Sean McDermott’s 0-7 Rockcorry 0-5. The early exchanges of the second half were closely contested but the home side rattled over a burst of scores to secure the victory on a final scoreline Sean McDermott’s 0-11 Rockcorry 0-6.
