Platinum Tanks RFL Division 2A
Our reserve footballers had their first outing of the season last Saturday 7th March when they travelled to play Doohamlet, in the Platinum Tanks Reserve Football League Division 2A. Unfortunately, only a small crowd of loyal supporters gathered to watch the match but they were treated to a great game of football. It was extremely competitive and highly entertaining and with only a kick of a ball between the sides at any stage the result remained in doubt right up to the final whistle. As the match entered the closing moments it was either team’s game and with nothing between the teams both sides continued to battle brilliantly and they really gave the crowd a nail biting finish. Sadly, (from our point of view) the home team emerged victorious with a late point to secure the league spoils on a final score-line Doohamlet 4-5 Rockcorry 4-4. While it was disappointing to lose the match, after a great hour’s endeavour, I have to report that the lads played some good football and one could not really have asked for much more from their first outing. There were a number of impressive performances, particularly from a few of our younger players namely Aaron McGorman, Paul McPhillips and Matthew Greenan who all gave a solid & effective performance as they made their first appearance wearing the ‘Green & White’ jersey at adult level and we look forward to encouraging and supporting them during their playing career for the club. A full match report and a selection of action photographs can be viewed on our official website at www.rockcorrygaa.ie

Best Wishes & Speedy Recovery
On behalf of everyone at the club I would like to extend our best wishes to senior footballer Garry Calvert who underwent surgery last Monday 9th March to repair an on-going ankle injury and is expected to be side-lined for six or eight weeks. To lose a player of Garry’s quality & calibre is not ideal but it presents an opportunity to fringe players to step up to the plate and make a claim in the starting line-up. Let’s hope the procedure run smoothly and we wish Garry a speedy recovery back to full health and look forward to seeing back in the green & white jersey as soon as possible. Take care Gazman!
