Allianz National Hurling League Division 3A
Monaghan 0-18 Fingal 2-12 15/3/15
Monaghan’s hurlers came from behind to maintain their unbeaten record under Trevor Hilliard in Sunday’s NHL game against Fingal in Clones. With Danny Butterley and Eoin O’Connor scoring first-half goals and John Matthew Sheridan keeping the scoreboard ticking over, Fingal led for almost all of this match as they attempted to return to winning ways. The north-Dublin side were five points up at half-time, but Ronan Meegan and Stephen Lambe helped keep Monaghan in touch. A brace from Martin Murphy and a point by substitute Conor Boyle gave Monaghan hope late on, before Meegan took his tally to 0-6 (and 0-28 for the league) to equalise. Three teams go into next Sunday’s last round with a chance of qualifying for the final, with Monaghan away to Fermanagh and the other two contenders, Tyrone and Roscommon, going head-to-head.
