U-6/U-8/U-10

Our U8 team played in a blitz organised by Monaghan Coaching and Games in Our Lady’s Secondary School last Saturday. The boys had plenty of matches and really enjoyed their morning’s hurling. Next Wednesday we are having a blitz in Concra for the U6, U8 and U10 teams. East Cavan Gaels and Mullaghbawn will also be attending this blitz. We will then take a break for Easter and will resume training for these three age groups in Concra on Wednesday  the 15th April from 6.30 to 7.30pm.

Clontibret have invited us to a blitz on Sunday 19th April so we would ask that parents keep this date free in their diaries if possible

U14

Our U14 team had a great win on Monday last in their opening game of the Monaghan League. Great individual performances from Jack Morris, Joshua Mone, David Irwin and Jake McManus aswell as a great team display saw our lads win by a margin of 5 points

U16/Minor

Minor and U16 training will begin this Saturday morning in Concra at 11am. All players interested in playing are asked to attend so that a time for training that suits everybody can be agreed.

Dinner Dance

A great night was had last Friday at our annual awards ceremony in the Glencarn Hotel. After a very successful year, players had three different winners medals to collect – the Monaghan Senior Hurling League, Monaghan Senior Hurling Championship and the Ulster Junior Club Championship. Player of the year trophies were awarded to Mark Treanor (Senior Player of the Year), Ger O’Brien (Reserve Player of the Year) and Aidan Kerr (Minor Player of the Year). Thanks to all of those who sponsored spot prizes for the night and to our hard working committee for organising the event. Special thanks to Martin McAviney who attended on behalf of Comhairle Uladh and in particular to Jason McAndrew, the county Hurling Officer who represented Monaghan Co. Board in difficult circumstances

Monaghan County Hurling Team

Huge congratulations to the Monaghan Senior hurling team and in particular to Kevin and all of the Blayney players who qualified for the final of Division 3A of the Allianz Hurling League with a convincing win over Fermanagh in Brewster Park, Enniskillen last Sunday. The final is scheduled for Saturday the 4th of April against Tyrone with the venue still to be confirmed so please keep this date free and get along to support the lads.

Sympathy

The club would like to offer its deepest sympathy to Kevin and Colette McAree on the death of John Francis McNally
