The three Monaghan county teams in competitive action over the weekend all saw their fortunes reversed from the previous week. The senior men lost a thriller against Cork in the Allianz League Division One on Sunday and the Under-21s fell to a disappointing Shamrock Cup defeat against Tyrone on Friday night, although the ladies did get their first league points on the board with a comfortable victory over the Red Hand County.
It was a good couple of days for Monaghan teams in the Danske Bank Ulster Colleges MacLarnon Cup. Patrician High School, Carrickmacross and Our Lady’s Secondary School, Castleblayney booked semi-final places with convincing wins against Holy Trinity, Cookstown, and St. Ciarán’s, Ballygawley respectively.
