At a packed Shirley Arms on Saturday night last Killanny Geraldines along with Killanny Ladies gfc  held their annual presentation.  Tommy Gartlan got proceedings under way for the Ladies club and team captain Tonia Collins presented her team with the first ever adult medals. Jenny McArdle scooped the senior player of the year, Megan Gartlan received minor player of the year, Alana O Brien and  Eimer Crawley shared the under 16 player of the year and Aveen Crawley picked up under 14 player of the year. Tommy O Brien presented the players with their awards. Jimmy McCahey presented the under 12 team with their medals.
Michael Crawley got proceedings under way by thanking all the suppoerter who came out in great numbers to cheer on the Geraldines. He also thanked the team mentors who gave their time selflessly to train and manage teams. He acknowledged the great work that manager Andy Callan had put in over 2 years and was ably assisted by Paul Grimes. Adam Grimes received a token in appreciation for his constant help around the club. Well done Adam. Michael also thanked the sponsors for their contribution, Kerry Foods, Johnny Hoey Fuel Distributors, LMFM, Shirley Arms and Coyle Group. Finally Michael thanked all those who bought Lotto tickets and everybody who supported our fundraisers.
Our boys under 12 team received their runner up medals from club chairman Johnny Quinn after they were narrowly defeated by Latton in the final.
Hall of Fame
We inducted two legends in to the Killanny  Hall of Fame- Hugh Finnegan and John McMahon. Hugh played football for over thirty years before becoming a long serving member of the committee. Hugh couldn’t be with us  as he was attending a family function in Dublin. John McMahon was another Killanny stalwart who started his career in the early 60,s. He won a junior championship with Killanny in 1970. When asked for a cupla focail after his presentation John hesitated and quipped that he done all his talking on the football pitch.
Player of the Year
Well done to Cian Whakley who picked up the Senior player of the year. Michael Vernon scooped the reserve player of the year. The final presentation was made to the reserve team who defeated Truagh in the final by one point. Team captain Stephen McBride led his team up to receive their from Club chairman Johnny Quinn. This is the first silverware that the club has received in  twenty years and lets hope that it wont be another twenty years before we get the next cup.
Thanks
A big bualadh bos the Shirley Arms for a beautiful meal.
