Donaghmoyne GFC Dinner Dance:
On Saturday night last, the 7th of February, the Donaghmoyne GFC Dinner Dance took place in the Nurmore Hotel Carrickmacross. A great night it promised to be and I think everyone can agree it lived up to expectation. To see such a big crowd on the night and to see so much silverwear sitting on the top table, really was a fitting tribute to all the hard work and commitment of a lot of people in our club in the past 12 months. There are a few people who need to be thanked, first of all we’d like to thank the Vice-Chairman of Monaghan County Board, Michael Mc Mahon for coming along as our special guest and to make the presentations on the night. Second we’d like to thank the band ‘The Big Eazy’ who put on a great show for everyone on the night. After that we’d like to thank The Nuremore Hotel for their top class hospitality and facilities, both of which are second to none. Also a huge thanks to all the Committee Members and Executives of the club who were responsible for making this memorable night possible, and finally to all those who attended the Dinner Dance and made the very most of the occassion. Congratulations to all who recieved honours on the night, our Minor, U21, Reserve and Senior Panels, your hard work and efforts on the pitch have been fittingly rewarded. Congratulations to all those who recieved personal honours on the night also Mikey Murnaghan and David Wilson the Minor Players of the Year, Darren and Shane Mc Elroy the U21 and Reserve Players of the Year respectively and to Stephen Martin the Senior Player of the Year. Congratulations also to Cora Courtney who recieved a personal award for winning her Ladies All Star, Rory Woods who received a personal award on his retirement and finally the three Hall of Fame award recipients, Gerry Finnegan, Gerry Mc Donald and Thomas Callan, your many years of hard work were not gone unnoticed and were very much appreciated. Hopefully this won’t be our last memorable night with the club, and with the same hard work and commitment, there is no reason why this night can’t be made a regular event!
