U-21 SHAMROCK CUP

We welcomed Monaghan and Tyrone U-21s to Cremartin on Sunday afternoon last for the Final of the U-21 Shamrock Cup.  Congratulations to the Tyrone U-21 team who ran out the eventual winners on a scoreline of Monaghan 0-10 Tyrone 1-10.  Commiserations to our own Monaghan U21s who put in a big effort and gave Tyrone a great game in very difficult conditions.  The Club would like to thank the officials Conor Doureen, Barry Grimley and Brendan McNally for their help on the day which was very much appreciated.

A big thank you to the organising Committee for running an excellent event and in particular Declan Flanagan, the Event Co-ordinator.  Thanks also to all our Committee Members, Stewards and Car Park Attendants, those who helped with the refreshments at half time, and all our loyal Cremartin Gaels who supported the tournament and helped out in any way.

Best of luck to Monaghan U21s who now turn their attention to the Ulster U21 Football championship campaign against either Derry or Down on the 18th March.

ANNUAL AWARDS NIGHT

We had a very successful night last Saturday at our Annual Awards night.  We would like to thank our special guests Garrett Coyle (CCM) and Fr. McDonald for taking the time to attend our event and help celebrate our achievements both on and off the field in 2014.

We were extremely privileged to award the 2014 Hall of Fame to Peadar Duffy.  Peadar isone of our esteemed Cremartin Greats who has given many years of outstanding service to Cremartin Shamrocks both as a player in the sixties and seventies and as a Club Officer in the seventies.  Peadar received a fitting and glowing tribute on the night and is a very worthy recipient of our Hall of Fame accolade.  We were delighted Peadar’s family and friends could join him on his special night and we would like to sincerely thank them for attending.

We honoured our victorious Reserve Winning team who obtained the Hugh Brady Cup in 2014 with their team Management Team of Gerard Malone and Micheál Boyd.  This team showed great team spirit and determination throughout the year and it was their never say die attitude that both secured their place in the final and led to their great win last year.  We wish them all the best in Division 1A this year.

Patrick McGuigan received the Senior Player of the Year for his outstanding performances in 2014.  Paddy McGuigan also received the Hugh and Kathleen Branigan shield for hisexceptional year on the field.  The Reserve Player of the Year for 2014 went to Fergal Mulligan.  Fergal had a tremendous year on the field and was a well deserved winner.  They were both commended on the commitment and dedication they displayed in 2014.  Both players were worthy and very popular winners with their peers and supporters.

Our Club Person for 2014 was awarded to our Coaching Officer Frankie Branigan.  Frankie was commended on his tireless work rate and commitment with our youth sector.  Frankie received a high praised tribute which was a fitting accolade to the work Frankie carries out on a daily basis.

Our Chairman Vincent Boyd awarded a special award to the Chairman of the Finance Committee Eddie Carragher on the significant work carried out in 2014 which resulted in our most successful fundraising draw to date.  The many hours put in behind the scenes do not go unnoticed and the Club would like to thank Eddie and his Committee for all their hard work throughout the year.

We would like to thank everyone who helped with the preparation work for the night in setting up the hall, the ticket sellers, to our professional MC on the night Gary CarvilleMcEntee’s catering, Larry and his Bar staff and to everyone who attended.  Thanks also to Gerry Mac for providing the music and made it a very enjoyable night.
