Club Lotto! The draw for a jackpot of €1800 was held in the Emmet Centre on Monday night when the numbers drawn were 04-12-19 and 25. There were no matching numbers but it was close!  The following were the “Keeping It Local” lucky dip winners€50 Keith O’Rourke Convent View €20 Kate Duffy c/o Emmets Ladies Club €20 Kenneth Lonergan Shercock Road €10 Kenneth Rafferty Lurgans. As a family based Association catering for all ages we recognise and appreciate that a lot of our support comes from the local business community in the Carrickmacross neighbourhood. Our club lotto weekly winners are presented with shopping vouchers equivalent to the amount that they win! There are three options to play; (a) play weekly (b) subscribe-yearly (c) play on-line! The new Jackpot is €1900 and is there to be won!

Club Fixtures for March! Club fixtures in the county commence this Saturday 1st March however the Emmets will not have their first official fixture for 2015 until Saturday 7thMarch when we play Blackhill at 4.15pm in the first round of the Reserve Football League (2B) at Blackhill.  On Sunday 15th March; Killanny are visitors to Emmet Park in the same competition and this local encounter is fixed for 12.00pm. The minor team has a bye for the first fixture in division one of the Minor League which commences on Saturday 14th March but they will make their debut in the competition against rivals Magheracloone on Tuesday 24th March at the Mitchell’s venueat the unusual time of 5.15pm in the afternoon! The following Tuesday evening 31st March; Scotstown will have to make the long journey south to Emmet Park for a 6.30pm throw in round three of the League!  The Intermediate team opens their season at 4.00pm on Sunday 22nd March when they renew rivalry with recently relegated Currin in the first round of the League; the game is currently fixed as a home match for the Emmets! So not a lot of activity for the club on the playing fields next month; but expect an upsurge in fixtures for April! 

Club Meeting! On Wednesday last the Emmets Committee met in the Emmet Centre and some important matters discussed included the latest update on the new development on the Donaghmoyne Road. Chairman of the Development Committee Kevin Lynch brought a proposal to the meeting regarding the excepting of a tender for the erection of the club dressing rooms and other external work incorporating a pedestrian footpath on the siteit was decided to accept the name of a local contractor!  He went on to elaborate on the costs and outlay for the project and Francie McGinn outlined the grants due and the borrowing required which he said was quite manageable! Chairman Gordon Finnegan disposed that a finance sub-committee be put in place to overview some method to raise monies for the project with a consideration and deliberation on fund-raising possibilities! The good news is that the work will commence in the near future and we will keep you informed as we go along! In relation to the recent successful run by the “Farney Players” Francie McGinn thanked David O’Rourke and his cast for their splendid efforton behalf of the club in staging eight performances of their production “Wanted One body” He also thanked the stage hands, workers and backroom team and all who all helped over the last few months. He paid special tribute to Tómas McMahon who was the main architect and designer of the stage and whose assistance and help couldn’t be measured in terms of the voluntary commitment and devotion he gave to the cause! Treasurer Nial Carolan outlined the financial position and accounts for the club to date. Ursula O’Hanlon then gave a presentation on a fund raising initiative which is detailed below! Any other business concluded the meeting. 

Spring Clean your Wardrobe! The Emmets GAA club is having an unwanted clothing collection to help raise funds towards the administration of our club. All types of clothing will be accepted (Ladies, Gents, Children’s Clothing, footwear, bags, belts and bed linen but no duvets or pillows thank you! Clothes should be clean and placed in plastic bags. We will take bags of all sizes; big or small as every bit of garment counts. Please drop your bags at the front door of the clubhouse in Emmet Park before 14th March; this current drive does not involve asking people for money so you can do your bit by spreading the word to your extended family and friends! Club Registration Night! The Emmets registration night is on this Friday evening from 6.30pm to 8.00pm in the Emmet Centre. Parents and Guardians are invited to bring along all their eligible boys from the age of six-years old to eighteen-years old to register and become an Emmet member and player of the future. Boys must be accompanied on the night by their parent/s or guardian/s. The membership subscription is €30 for adults; €20 for individual boys or €70 for family membership. Orders will also be taken on the night for club gear!

Patrician High School! The best of luck to the players and mentors Patrician High School, Carrickmacross who take on St Malachy’s of Belfast in the postponed semi-final of the Danske Bank MacLarnon Cup on this Saturday, February 28th: in Silverbridge (4.00pm) If you get the opportunity go and support the lads in their quest to reach the final and bring some silverware to the town!
