Team Management
By now, most of you are probably aware or have heard gossip that last year’s team manager Mickey Morgan has been reappointed for the upcoming season. Mickey met the players last Sunday morning and highlighted his requirements for the year ahead and relatively speaking the general theme involved hard work, being mentally strong, focused and being honest. He emphasised that hard work reveals the true character of a person and all players must be honest with themselves and take responsibility for their own actions to work hard in order to improve their own fitness levels. During his talk he stated that we, (the club, the management and the players) must always maintain a positive attitude and he also spoke about the significance of being punctual and stressed the importance of having a high degree of self-belief in order to achieve our goals this year.

Juvenile Teams – Helpers Wanted
The club provides enjoyment and exercise for various age groups including under 8’s, 10’s, 12’s, 14’s and under 16’s. The success of the club is built on the willingness of people to get involved and we are looking for people to help out with our underage teams.
At present we have a limited group of dedicated coaches, mentors and first aiders that look after our underage teams but if we are to continue to grow and develop then we need more participation and involvement particularly from parents, former players and current players. If anybody is interested in helping out or sitting on a juvenile sub-committee then can you please contact our youth officer Tracey Rooney or our coaching officer Pascal Smyth. Remember, you do not have to be an expert and you will be instructed by an experienced coach, but please come forward and volunteer. You may be able to spare one hour on a Saturday morning or one evening per week to supervise at training sessions, or maybe at a game. Whatever you can do please do come forward and offer your help as we need as many people as possible.
Registration Night / Juvenile Membership
The club intends holding a Registration night shortly to allow all underage players including under 8’s, 10’s, 12’s, 14’s, 16’s and 18’s to register and pay their club membership. All players and parents will be expected to turn up and indeed any new parents and players are also very welcome to attend. It is important to remember that all juvenile players must be registered to train or play any games to be covered under the GAA insurance scheme. We will also be accepting adult membership on the night and club registrar Pat Brannigan will be present and will gladly accept your annual subscription which is for adults €20 with all juveniles under the age of 18 costing €5 and any student that can provide a valid student card the membership fee is €5.
Garda Vetting
Within the club, we always try to promote best practice in the recruitment and selection of people to work with children in the club. It is therefore vital that any person i.e. coach, mentor, manager etc. within the club has completed the relevant Garda Vetting Form. In effect this means that any person working with underage teams on behalf of the club should be vetted. ALL members of the committee and our underage coaches who have not been Garda vetted previously can you please ensure that you fill in and return a Garda Vetting Form to our youth officer Tracey Rooney, coaching officer Pascal Smyth or our children’s officer, Colm McCormick. Please visit www.rockcorrygaa.ie to download an updated Garda Vetting Form which should be used by everyone requiring Garda vetting.
