Last Saturday the U14 Football Development Squad traveled to Clonduff Co. Down to take part in a blitz organised by Down Coaching & Games. There was four teams in the blitz (Down, Armagh, Antrim and Monaghan), with each team taking 2 teams to the blitz. Each team got to play 4 very competitive games, with one of the Monaghan teams winning their final against Down. As is the nature with development squads at this age, Monaghan currently have a very large squad (65 player) so unfortunately we could only take 40 players with us. All the players that never got the chance to take part in the blitz will get an opportunity to play in an upcoming blitz at the end of October. Training continues for this group on Saturday morning. It is also worth noting that the panel will be reduced before the start of the winter programme so it is very important that every player attends training over the next month. We would just like to thank all the player and parents for their support and commitment to the squad to date. We would also like to thank the management team on the day which was Adrian Alford (Clones), James Bellew (Emyvale), Colin Malone and Paul O’Connor (Coaching & Games).
