Last Saturday morning 92 children from county Monaghan took to the hallowed turf of Croke Park for the now annual Activity Day. All the boys who took part where born in 2002 (last year of U12 age group). All our clubs with U12 teams this year where represented on the day with 2 players each. All the hurling clubs had 5 representatives each. All the football players where divided into 6 teams while the hurlers where divided into 3 teams. Monaghan had access to the field for an hour and a half so there was plenty of time for the players to play on the field. After we finished playing the group got a tour of the stadium.
All the players enjoyed the day, with all them coming back down the road in high spirits. Monaghan Coaching and Games would just like to thank for Ulster Coaching and Games staff particularly Jimmy Darragh and Terence McWilliams for all their help and assistance on the day. All our club coaching officers who helped in picking their club’s representatives and getting all the consent forms filled out. The 4 referees Shane Leer, Sinead Kelly, Kathy Deery and Packie Marron and the 9 mentors who helped out on the day; Anthony Courtney, Paddy McNally, Pauric Dowdall, Ann McKenna, Irene Connolly, Anthony Brennan, Dermot Hamill, Pat Burns and Conall Rooney. Finally we would just like to thank Croke Park for giving our young players the chance to play on the field.
