Monaghan Electrical Intermediate League
The senior team played Tyholland last Sunday 31st August in the Monaghan Electrical intermediate football league and
everyone played their part to dish up an exciting and a very enjoyable eight goal thriller. It really was amazing the way the game turned out and I imagine from a spectator’s point of view it was very enjoyable to watch. Unfortunately (from our point of view) after a compelling and engaging match it was Tyholland’s ability to notch over some long range points, at critical junctures, that was ultimately the main difference as they secured the victory on a final score-line Tyholland 4-12 Rockcorry 4-5. McGuigan Builders Intermediate Championship
After the absorbing encounter against Tyholland last Sunday the senior team will have a great opportunity to make amends for the disappointing defeat when they meet each other again in the McGuigan Builders Intermediate Football Championship. The game takes place tomorrow evening, Friday 5th September, at St. Oliver Plunkett’s Park, Emyvale and throw-in time is 8.15pm. It’s going to be a hard task but as they say nothing worth doing is ever easy! All the best lads and whoever lines out be honest with yourself and leave every ounce of energy out on the field and have no regrets… Oh, one last thing – “don’t let them out easy”!
Gerry’s Prepared Veg – Under 16 League
Our under 16 footballers completed their football season last Thursday 28th August when they played Latton in the semi-final of the Gerry’s Prepared Veg Championship. The lads played with a lot of pride, in the face of adversity and did not lie down, but against a strong and highly rated Latton outfit they unfortunately endured a heavy defeat on a score-line Rockcorry 2-3 Latton 3-18. This concludes the football for another year and I would like to thank all the players for their commitment to the team and a massive thank you to the team management involving Felix Granaghan, Emlyn Patterson and Sean Greenan for all their hard work and time coaching and preparing the players and to all the parents for bringing the lads to training and for supporting and encouraging the team.
Go Games Blitz
With all our other underage teams finished in their respective grades and competitions it’s up to the youngest members of the club to keep flying the Green & White flag. This Saturday, 6th September, both the under 8’s and under 10 players will get their chance to compete in another Go Games blitz campaign. It takes place at Latton between 10am to 12 noon and parents and encouraged to meet at the dressing-rooms to help with the transportation.
