Corduff Notes

Juveniles:

U6 / U8 / U10

Training is scheduled every Saturday from 10.00 to 11.15.

Minors:

The Minors are still busy preparing for the Division 3 Championship Final against Latton on Sunday 28th of September in Inniskeen at 2pm.

Seniors:

The Corduff Senior Men made a return trip to Scotstown on Saturday last to play Clones in Round 3B of The McGuigan Builders Intermediate Championship. Despite the fact that Clones dominated the scoreboard until the 18th minute the winning momentum continued for Corduff. A Jason Hand goal in the 19th minute sparked a turnabout. Clones levelled matters in the 25th minute but that was it as Corduff went on a scoring blitz after half time . Raymond Byrne added a goal with Jason adding a second one to his personal tally. In what was a very impressive team performance Corduff ended decisive winners on a score line of Corduff 3-15 Clones 0-11.In doing so they move onto the Championship Semi-Final against Inniskeen on Saturday September 27th at 1:30pm in Castleblayney. This is a double header with the Corduff match the curtain raiser. So once again we’re calling on all Corduff supporters to make the short trip to Castleblayney on Saturday week to support the team and management.

Monaghan Electric Intermediate League:  With a break from Championship action this weekend its back to the Intermediate League with the Senior men away to Carrickmacross this Saturday at 3pm in Round 15 of the League. As local derbies go this should be a good one so come out and support the team.

Ladies:

The Corduff Ladies booked a place in the Intermediate League Final by defeating O’Neills in the Semi-Final last Saturday. Lead by Captain Fiona Patton Corduff Ladies were impressive winners on the day. Corduff stated their intent with a smashing goal by Colleen Calleen in the opening seconds of the game. This game was played at a fast pace throughout with Corduff showing good form. Points from Laura McEnaney and Fiona Patton plus a goal from Emma Byrne meant Corduff held a comfortable lead at the interval on a score line of 2-04 to 0-04. Corduff once again dominated the opening exchanges in the second half with great defending from keeper Alana Kernan, defenders Sarah McEnaney, Ciara McEnaney, Hannah Finegan, Naomi Cogan, Fiona Patton and Barbara Ward. Midfielders Kate Brennan and Amy Treanor were also in control.2 Goals and points from Eva Woods plus points from Laura McEnaney, Colleen Callan, Sinead McEneaney, Claire Connolly and Niamh Callan kept the pressure on O’Neills. O’Neills made a late rally in the last quarter adding 2-02 to their tally but another point from Eva Woods in the 27th minute sealed an impressive win for Corduff. Subs were Sinead McEnenay, Jessica McMahon, Dearbhla Callan, Elena McEnaney and Eibhlin Clinton. Subs used Sinead McEneaney for Claire Connolly and Claire Connolly for Niamh Callan. Congratulations to Management Declan Kernan and Pete Cassidy and  thanks to first Aiders Mary Callan and Mary Finegan. Details of the final to follow.

Sympathy:

Corduff Ladies passed a vote of sympathy to Senior player Colleen Callan and the Callan Family on the recent passing of Rose’s Mother Mary Traynor , Bailieborough.
