Stars in the Faughs Eyes – What can we say about last Saturday night, it really lived up to its billing of “Stars in your Faughs Eyes”, with a show packed full of brilliant performances from start to finish. The crowd of over five hundred were entertained by a variety of local talent, ranging from The Hanratty Rat Pack to the Eamon Mac “Will I amn’t” rap.   A big thank you to every person who took to the stage, it’s never easy to get outside your comfort zone and get up on stage but as last Saturday night showed, we have lots of people who will do anything to see the Club advance. Well done to Fitness 4 Life who were the eventual winners, but the reality on a night like this, is that everyone was a winner, the contestants who really performed so well, the audience who had a brilliant evening and the organising committee  who put in a huge effort to ensure that the night was such a massive success.

Senior team – The Senior team had a disappointing result away to Truagh last Saturday, they opened the match well but a number of missed goal opportunities proved costly. At half time the lads were two up, but Truagh put in a strong show in the second half to emerge victorious by two points. Final Score Traugh 1-11 Faughs 0-12. We have an away match against Doohamlet this Sunday at 12.30 before we play Currin at home on Wednesday 1st of October under lights at 8pm.

Under 16 Boys – The boys were defeated by Patrick Emmets in Scotshouse in the league semi-final last Thursday, by six points. This brings their year to an end. The club would like to thank the players and the management team for a great effort right throughout the year, the commitment and improvement shown has been tremendous. Well done to you all.

Under 14 Girls –The girls exited the under 14 Championship when they were narrowly defeated by Scotstown in a very entertaining game last Sunday. The girls gave an outstanding performance and battled extremely hard right to the end, best on the night was Sally Maloney, Jodie McQuillan and Nicole Maguire. The girls will take a short break before they resume training in late October.

Operation TransFAUGHSmation – OPTFM is really up and flying at this point, last Friday we had over two hundred participants turning up for Boot Camp training in St. Marys Park, which was a real test of people fitness level and a new experience for many.  On Sunday morning a large crowd travelled to Slieve Gullion for the Sunday morning hike, this proved to be a big hit with glorious sunshine and a great walk setting everyone up for their Sunday lunch. This week we have circuits on Tuesday evening and the second boot camp of the programme on Friday evening while Sunday will see the first of the training sessions at the field at 11am.

Under 16 Finals – Last Saturday saw the Club host the County Under 16 Finals, with Latton and Monaghan proving worthy winners of their divisions.  Thanks to all the stewards who turned up to make the Finals day a big success for all concerned. Well done everyone.

Intermediate Semi Finals –The Club will hold the County Intermediate Semi Finals this Saturday with Innsikeen taking on Corduff at 1.30pm while Donaghmoyne take on Rockcorry with a throw in time of 3pm, if you are available to help out can you contact Melissa Conlon 087 761 7216 as we once again need all hands on board to insure the event is a success.
