Monaghan’s senior ladies exited the All-Ireland race with a 0-17 to 0-14 quarter-final defeat against Galway in Birr last Saturday. Monaghan led for spells of the first half, with Ciara McAnespie, Niamh Kindlon, Ellen McCarron, Therese McNally-Scott and Cathriona McConnell on the scoreboard and Caoimhe Mohan came on to kick three points in the second half, but Galway finished strongly to end Monaghan’s bid to qualify for another All-Ireland final.

Christopher McKenna kicked 0-7 as Truagh eased past Currin in the Gormley uPVC Senior Football Championship on Friday night, while Latton finished strongly to edge out Magheracloone on Saturday in the last remaining Round 1A game, thanks to late points from Owen Duffy and Stephen McCabe. Two extra-time goals by Dermot Malone helped Castleblayney eventually see off Doohamlet.

 

Corduff had a surprisingly easy win over Carrickmacross in the McGuigan Builders Intermediate Football Championship on Sunday, while Rockcorry had a similarly comfortable victory over Seán McDermotts and Donaghmoyne held off Emyvale.

 

Donaghmoyne and Carrickmacross will contest the McElvaney Recycling Minor Football League Division One Final after comfortable wins over Killanny and Scotstown respectively in the semi-finals. Latton and Castleblayney are through to the MFL Division Three decider, having seen off Seán McDermotts and Corduff.

Truagh avenged their McKeown Cup Final loss to Killanny when they beat the same opposition in Sunday’s Platinum Tanks Reserve Football League Division Three semi-final.

 

Monaghan Electrical

Carrickmacross and Donaghmoyne have joined Inniskeen at the top of the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League after they beat Rockcorry and Cremartin respectively on Wednesday evening, while Tyholland had a narrow win over Clones and Emyvale proved too strong for Seán McDermotts.

 

Eurotech

Drumhowan lost to championship final opponents Blackhill in the Eurotech Junior Football League on Sunday, but they returned to winning ways in style on Wednesday against Scotstown (who beat Éire Óg last Friday) to move up to fourth place. Killanny returned to the top with a convincing win over Toome on Wednesday.
