Intermediate Championship

Our seniors are finally out in the first Round of the championship this Saturday evening against Sean McDermotts in Clontibret.

Its part of a double header with Corduff/Cremartin which starts beforehand at 5.30pm.

We hope to hit the ground running in this year’s championship on the back of some solid league performances recently.

Alan, Robbie and Owen has blooded some excellent young players in over the last 2 years, and now is the time for them to stand up and produce it at championship level.

Throw in against Sean’s is at 7pm, so come out and support the panel.

Bereavement

We all at the Inniskeen Grattan’s GAA club would like to extend our sincere sympathy and condolences to the family and friends of the Late Kieran Dooley, Ballykelly, Inniskeen.

Kieran’s Grandchildren Jamie, Gavin, Amy, Aaron all represent the Grattan’s currently at various levels.

Camogie Ladies

The cups keep coming for the Inniskeen Camogie ladies with a Championship final win last Sunday against Clontibret by a score line of 3-06 to 0-10. Well done to all players and Management.

Hard Luck

Monaghan’s Championship campaign came to an abrupt end against a much superior Dublin team last Saturday evening in Croke Park. Apart from the opening 20mins we where second best all over the pitch.

The lads however can look back on the season with pride as they will be playing Div 1 league football next year and will looked upon as a serious contender for Ulster.

Camogie News

Comhghairdeas to our senior camógs who overcame Clontibret to win the Monaghan Development league final on Sunday last in Drumhowan. The two previous encounters between these teams had been close affairs but Inniskeen had fallen short on both occasions.

The opening exchanges in the game were evenly contested but it was Clontibret who settled quickest and registered four points before Inniskeen opened their account with a pointed free from Linda Callan.

A goal from Sharon McGahon followed quickly to even the score. Clontibret pushed ahead with a point but the response from Inniskeen was a pointed free from Linda Callan and a goal from Julie-Anne Finnegan. Inniskeen went in at the break three points to the good on a scoreline of 2.02 to 0.5.

It was a lead that Inniskeen did not relinquish. With confidence high, Inniskeen opened the second half with two points from Carmel McSkane and Linda Callan. Clontibret continued to push forward and registered two points from play to bring the gap back to three points. However, Inniskeen responded swiftly with a decisive goal from Tina O’Connor. Clontibret registered a further two points from 45s but the Inniskeen back line was resolute and the goal that Clontibret needed did not materialise.

Both teams exchanged further points with Linda Callan on target before Tina O’Connor added a further point to Inniskeen’s tally.

The final whistle blew on a scoreline of 3.06 to 0.10 and Captain Linda Callan accepted the cup and also picked up the Player of the match award.
