Seniors: Our senior footballers had a 1-17 to 1-8 win in last Sunday’s star game away to Currin. Shane Smyth, Niall Greenan, Dónal and Liam Hahessy and Ashley White from a ’45 were on target early on, before Nicholas Treanor punched to the net on 16 minutes. Currin stayed in touch in the second quarter, but Ashley converted another ’45 and Dónal, Stephen Driver and Fearghal McMahon ensured we led by 1-9 to 0-6 at half-time. Dónal added a point after the restart, but a Currin goal brought them back into it. We finished strongly, however, with points by Dónal (three), Shane Coyle, Nicholas Scott, Aodhán Óg McAnespie and Niall. Our next game is due to be on Friday week (July 25) at home to Latton.

Subs: John Mulligan for Connolly (13 mins), Shane Coyle (0-1) for Gamal (38), Evan Doherty for D Hahessy (54), Dónal McCarthy for Niall Treanor (57).

Reserves: Our McKeown Cup team had a 3-11 to 2-10 win at home to Aghabog last Wednesday evening. We were very slow out of the blocks, allowing Aghabog to hit an unanswered 1-3 early on, but points by Conor McCaughey and Paul Smyth got us off the mark and although Aghabog hit a second goal, 1-1 by Paul Byrne, a point from Francis Lynch and a Niall Greenan major made it 2-4 apiece at half-time. A point by debutant Shane Hannon and three from Niall got us off to a good start in the second half and although Aghabog rallied to edge ahead inside the last ten minutes, Francie brought us back on level terms and Niall netted a penalty, before points by Niall and Paul secured a hard-earned result. We have a league game at home to Clones next Wednesday at 8pm, while the championship semi-final against Truagh has been set for Friday, August 1 at 7.30pm.

Team and scorers: Ronan McGann; Ahmed Gamal, Niall Treanor, Turlough Clerkin; Conor Forde, Carl Foentjies, Conor Burns; Lorcan McAdam, Dónal McCarthy; Francis Lynch (0-2), Paul Byrne (1-2), Brendan McQuaid; Paul Smyth (0-1), Conor McCaughey (0-1), Shane Hannon (0-1).

We have an important RFL Division 1A game away to Latton tomorrow night (Wednesday) and we are away to Scotstown on Saturday evening.

U-21: The Under-21 Football League started with an exciting 1-15 to 3-7 win at home to Truagh last Friday. A Shane Hannon goal got the Harps off to a good start, but despite Kevin Loughran adding a couple of points, Truagh got on top after that, finding the net three times in the first 12 minutes. Points from Fearghal McMahon and David Mullen kept our lads in touch, but they still trailed by 3-2 to 1-4 at half-time. Fearghal kicked four points in the first ten minutes of the second half (two from frees), while Niall Greenan also got on the scoresheet, but Truagh responded to regain the lead going into the last ten minutes. Another point by Niall, a brace from Evan Doherty and a well-struck ’45 by Fearghal edged our lads ahead late on and although Truagh drew level again, a fine score from Éimhín Morahan and another free by Fearghal secured an opening win.

Team and scorers: Ryan Shields; John Mulligan, Dónal McCarthy, Niall Treanor; Turlough Clerkin, Mustafa Gamal, Conor Burns; James McKenna, Kevin Loughran (0-2); Paul Smyth, Michael Galligan, Niall Greenan (0-2); Fearghal McMahon (0-7, 3f, 1 ‘45), Evan Doherty (0-2), Shane Hannon (1-0).

Subs: David Mullen (0-1) for McKenna (black card, 7 mins), Carl Foentjies for Smyth, Pauric Murphy for McCarthy (both H-T), Conor Forde for Burns, Éimhín Morahan (0-1) for Mullen (both 45).

Next up is an away game against Scotstown this Friday at 8pm.

Minors: The Minor Football League resumed after the exam break with a high-scoring home win against St. Patrick’s last Tuesday. Points by John Mulligan, Niall Duffy, Éimhín Morahan and Reece Treanor and a goal from Ciarán McQuaid got us off to a flying start. Further goals came from Éimhín (two) and Dylan McKenna, while James McKenna added his name to the list of scorers as we opened up a 4-9 to 0-6 half-time lead. St. Pat’s were improved after the restart, but scores by Niall, Reece, James and Éimhín and a goal by Ramunas Ramanauskas helped us run out 5-14 to 4-8 winners, although the second-half performance left us with plenty of room for improvement.

Team and scorers: Darragh Hannon; Marc Brennan, Tiarnán Bramley, Evan Cudden; Kyle O’Leary, Mustafa Gamal (Capt.), David Lowry; James McKenna (0-3), Ramunas Ramanauskas (1-0); Dylan McKenna (1-0), Éimhín Morahan (2-4, 0-1f), Niall Duffy (0-3); Reece Treanor (0-3, 1f), Ciarán McQuaid (1-0), John Mulligan (0-1).

Subs: Darragh Treanor for Brennan (40 mins), Kevin Lyden for Duffy (42), Conor Flynn for Lyden (black card, 53), Ruairí Forde for R Treanor (54), Adam Treanor for Bramley (55)

We play a championship quarter-final next Tuesday (July 22) against either Donaghmoyne or Doohamlet – check website etc. for fixture.

U-16: Our Under-16 footballers had a comprehensive win at home to St. Patrick’s last Thursday. Despite starting with a much-changed team, the players who came in ensured that our lads were in charge throughout as they secured a 7-11 to 0-10 victory. This Thursday’s game is a top-of-the-table clash with Magheracloone in Kingscourt – note change of venue.

Team: Dylan McAree; James Bourke, Niall McManus, Anthony Greenan; Niall Ward, Jamie Shields, Thomas Croarkin; Remy McKenna, Shane McMahon; Nathan O’Donoghue, Ben Kearns-Flynn, Jack Deery; Michael Mulligan, Dylan Duffy, Conor Duffy.

Subs: Conor McCrystal, Adam O’Neill.
