Best of luck: to Fintan Kelly and the Monaghan seniors in the Ulster Final on Sunday. Donegal will be back for revenge for last years defeat but Monaghan have shown that they’re no pushovers and indeed if anything have improved on last year. In what promises to be a fantastic occasion, the whole county will be rooting for a Monaghan victory, ‘what we have we hold’ and the Anglo Celt trophy is staying in Monaghan. Muineachain ABU.
Helpers required: for the Ulster Final on Sunday, extra program sellers and ice-cream sellers are needed with the bigger crowd that’ll be here on Sunday. All sellers are required to be in the field for 12noon.
Seniors: St.Tiarnachs Park hosted the meeting of Clones and Inniskeen last Sunday in round 12 of the Intermediate league. With an experimental team and some positional changes the home support wasn’t sure what to expect. A point a piece in the first few plays and then Inniskeen went on a scoring frenzy with a goal and two pints without reply. A lesser team may have dropped the head but this Clones team stood tall and went on the attack, there were leaders all over the field and when a lovely movement ended with the ball in the hands of Declan McQuaid, ball dynamite left his boot and a wonder goal for Clones. Daragh Holland followed that up with a goal of his own and Clones were in front by a point. To the players’ great credit they continued in that vein for the rest of the first half with some well taken scores by Adrian Alford, Daragh Holland and Ciaran Kelly. With Clones leading by two at half time 2:06 to 1:07, a good start was needed to the second half. The second half wasn’t as free scoring but just as intriguing, a very tense start to the half from both teams with opportunities at a premium. Defences on top and Micheál Treanor, the exceptional Ben Daly and Eugene Holland key in keeping Clones on top. With the game in the melting pot Clones continued on the offensive and pushed on to secure a memorable win, full time score Clones 2:10 Inniskeen 1:10. Team: Colin McCaughey, Ben Daly, Paul Shiels, Eugene Holland, Declan McQuaid, Micheál Treanor, Ciaran Kelly, Adrian Alford, Ethan Audley, Paul Connolly, Daragh Holland, James MacElwain, Colm Connolly, David Freeman, Sarto Quigley. Reserves: played Emyvale on Wednesday the 16th at home with a throw-in time of 8pm. report next week.
U21’s had their first outing at home to Latton on Friday with a young team predominantly made up of our minor team and the lads started very well competing for every ball and taking their scores, with three points the difference at half-time the lads needed the first score of the second half. This didn’t happen and Latton went on a goal scoring charge and it was soon evident that there was no way back for Clones. To their credit the lads stuck in and there was some encouraging passages of play and the lads will learn a lot from this game. Final score Clones 2:09 Latton 9:09. Team sheet: Conal Beggan, Dylan Hibbitt, David Jelistravos, James Gibson, Kevin Reilly, Daragh McDermott, David Freeman, James MacElwain, Chris Cadden, Cian O’Connor, Shane Slowey, Eoin McQuaid, James Mealiff, Ciaran Corr. Minors: played Doohamlet in round six of the McElvaney Recycling Div.2 League on Tuesday evening in Eire Og this game was a thriller and St.Tiarnachs needed a last gasp point to earn the draw, that’s four draws in the league for St.Tiarnachs and hopefully the lads don’t rue these opportunities later in the season. The team are away to Carrickmacross on Tuesday in the first round of the championship with a throw-in time of 7:30pm. Adh mór na gasúraí.

We started brightly in the second half with goals from Cameron Dowds and Daniel Connolly with points from Daniel Connolly, Evan Mulvaney and Cameron Dowds helping to enhance our lead.
