Ulster Senior Football Championship Quarter-Final
Monaghan 1-12 Tyrone 0-14 15/6/14
Monaghan made a winning start to their defence of the Ulster SFC title when they held out in a nerve-wracking finish to Sunday’s quarter-final against Tyrone in Clones. Conor McManus made a surprise start to captain Monaghan and converted six frees from as many attempts, while Dermot Malone scored the all-important goal on 41 minutes which gave Malachy O’Rourke’s side enough breathing space to hold off Tyrone’s late charge by the narrowest of margins.
