Harps Handball
The sun shone on the inter-club tournament at the Harps complex on Saturday last.  Drogheda were the visitors and brought 15 players and 6 adults for 3 hours of handball.  While the Monaghan players had the upper hand in the 40×20 court it was a different matter when it came to 1-Wall.  The O’Rathaillaigh players play mostly 1-Wall and that was evident. A big thanks to all who took part.  The Drogheda visitors were high in their praise of the facilities and thanked the Harps officials for the wonderful welcome. A return visit to the Drogheda club is being planned.  We would like to thank the adults who came and helped to look after such a large group.  In particular we thank John Boyle, Sean Devlin and Billy Caddell.  The visitors also brought their All-Ireland Under 15 Singles champion Ben Devlin.  While the home team were missing some players those who came got several games throughout the day.  The Monaghan team consisted of Tomasz Madela, Seán Callan, Arnas Didzbanis, Audrijus Viksraitis, Benas Semeta, Vlad Khokha, Nedas Guoga, Jakub Szkup, Edvinas Krivikas, Jordan Mc Govern and Martin Mullen. All got to play 1-Wall and 4-Wall.  Nedas was the player of the tournament with 6 wins and no defeats.
The 40×20 season is now winding down as we move into 60×30 and One-Wall. The exception is the Under 14 team that will play in the Féile na nGael competition on Saturday June 21st in Carrickmore.  While there will be no coaching next week the 4 players are expected to get some practice in preparation for Division 1 of Féile. The pairings are Jakub Szkup/Justas Dambinskas and Eoghan Mc Ginnity/Konrad Kowal.
