All Ireland Celebration Banquet: A very successful banquet night was enjoyed by the club last Sunday night in the Hillgrove when we celebrated the achievements of our All Ireland and Ulster winning intermediate side. Near on 700 supporters were in attendance to honour our teams with presentations being made by Aogan Farrell-GAA President elect, Monaghan Vice Chairman- Michael McMahon and our club chairman- Raymond Treanor. The senior player of the year award went to John McCarron. U-21 Player of the year went to Paudie McKenna. B player of the year went to Daniel Finnegan, while C player winner was Martin Treanor. Minor player of the year went to Kian McKenna. Hurler of the year went to Kieran McKenna and the minor hurler award going to Noel Flood. Camogie player of the year went to Brid Treanor. The ladies player of the year went to Caoimhe Mohan, while Rachael McKenna picked up the senior B payer of the year. Awards were also given to our successful scor participants who claimed county titles for the club this year. It was a thoroughly enjoyable occasion which capped a memorable year for the club. Seniors: In our first home game of the SFL season, we defeated Currin last Friday night, 4-14 to 1-7. Though we opened the scoring in the 5th minute with an Adam Treanor point, Currin scored the first goal of the game to take the lead in the 7th minute. A Chrissy McKenna goal in the 16th minute levelled the game at 1-3 each. Four minutes later we retook the lead with a point from Brendan Treanor before goals from Neil McRory and Adam Treanor extended our lead to go in at half time 3-6 to 1-5 in front. We continued our dominance in the second half adding a fourth goal from Chrissy McKenna to finish the game 16 point victors, 4-14 to 1-7. Our teams and scorers were: Ian Treanor; John McCarron, Niall Feely, Niall McQuillan; Aidan Coyle, Rory Treanor, John Treanor; Pauric Treanor, Barry Cuddy; Chrissy McAnanley (0-1), NeilMcRory (1-1), BrendyTreanor (0-2); AdamTreanor (1-4), Chrissy McKenna (2-3, 2f), Mark Counihan (0-1). Subs Used: Niall Rooney for Chrissy McAnaley, Niall McMeell (0-1) for Chrissy McKenna & Darren Todd (0-1) for Brendan Treanor. We were due to play Magheracloone on Wednesday night last. We follow this with a home game next Sunday at 2pm against Latton.

Reserves B: Our next game is due on the weekend of 25th May.

Reserves C: We defeated Blackhill in the preliminary round of the RFC3 last Saturday, 2-12 to 1-13. Our next game is in the league this Saturday, 10th May, at home to Emyvale at 5.30pm.

Minors: We beat Clontibret last Tuesday 2-14 to 0-3. Doohamlet conceded last Tuesdays game against us. Our next match is next Tuesday, May 13th, at 7.30pm against St. Tiarnachs in Smithborough.

U-16: We maintained our unbeaten start in the division 1 league last Thursday night with a 0-14 to 2-7 home win over Monaghan Harps.

U-14: We start our league campaign on 17th May with a league game against Aughnamullen.

U-12: Training for U-12 each Monday and Wednesday evening between 7-8pm. We play away to Emyvale on Saturday 10th May.

U-10: Training each Thursday evening between 7-8pm. Gum shields are mandatory for all. Annual registration due for all U-10s. Fee €20 and will be collected at training.

U-6 & 8s: Training each Thursday evening between 7-8pm. All welcome.

Lotto: The draw for last week was due to take place on Tuesday night last. Results will be published next week.

Club Shop/DVDs: The double DVD boxset of our All Ireland win is now available to purchase. Priced at €20, it includes the full All Ireland final as well as highlights of the matchesenroute to Croke Park. The DVD also carries interviews with players and supporters as well as footage from the homecoming. The DVDs were excellently produced by Lavery Photo and Video and is an essential item in every supporter’s DVD collection. The boxset can be purchased in the club shop. Club merchandise orders can be made to Eilish on 0877857680. The shop is open each Thursday between 7-8pm.

Hurling:
Seniors-We recorded an away win against Carrickmacross in the DHL last Thursday, 3-17 to 0-10. We play at home to Clontibret this Thursday, 8th May, at 7.30pm in the DHL.

 

Minors–We beat Castleblayney on Sunday last,4-17 to 3-10. Our next game is at home to Clontibret in the semi-final this Sunday at 12pm. This match is before our SFL game, so come out and support.

 

Ladies:

U10/12: Training continues Saturday morning 11am in St Mellans.

 

U14/16: Our U-14 girls recorded their third win on the trot with a comprehensive victory over Sean’s last week on a scoreline of 6-15 to 2-1. Team & Scorers were Siobhan Coyle, Meabh Mc Cluskey, Emma Mc Aree (1-2), Megan Markey (0-1), Megan Mc Quaid, Laura Mc Kenna, Morgan Mc Kenna (3-3), Ernesta Laureckyte (0-1), Aoife Mc Quillan, Aoife Tierney (1-1), Colleen Mc Gee (1-4), Aoibhinn Treanor (0-3), Eabha Campbell, Shannon Kelly, Aoife Mc Aree.

Our girls U16 game away to Carrickmacross has been refixed for tonight Thursday 8/5/14.

 

Minors/Seniors: Training Tuesday & Friday at 7.45pm. Well done to our reserve team who defeated Donamoyne B on Sunday last in St Mellans.

 

Congratulations: to all who received awards at the gala night on Sunday, especially to our own Rachel McKenna who picked up the reserve player of the year and to Caoimhe Mohan for senior player of the year.
