Senior Championship: Scotstown made a winning start to their championship title defence on Saturday last against Truagh Gaels. It was a tight contest right through the 60 minutes and it took an injury time goal through Paul Grant to make the result safe for Scotstown in the end. Rory Beggan had converted a ʺ45 ̏ to leave Scotstown 7pts to 6 ahead at half time. Both teams had been on level terms on three occasions, where Truagh led once in the early stages of 2nd half, but with scores through Conor McCarthy, Darren Hughes, Shane Carey and our midfield dominance from David McCague & Francis Caulfield carried them through to the next round of the championship.
