Senior League: Our seniors had a busy time with two league games last week, On Wednesday week last they had a home game against Ballybay and with the first half been very tight and lively Scotstown held the advantage going in at the break 2-4 to 1-4 ahead, Shane Carey goal on 8mins and Darren Hughes goal on 18mins had set them up. The home side had a good second half, while they produce some fine scores to leave the final outcome at 3-11 to 1-8. Team: Rory Beggan (0-1); Barry McMeel; Damien McArdle; Mark Treanor; Padraig Keenan, James Turley (0-1); Brian McGinnity; David McCague; Francis Caulfield; Eddie Beggan; Peter O Hara (0-1); Darren Hughes (2-0); Shane Carey (1-3); Dermott McCrudden (0-2); Conor McCarthy (0-1). Subs Used: Nicholas Corrigan (0-1), Emmett Caulfield, William Carroll, Michael McCarville, Shane Rice, Paul Grant (0-1). Then on Sunday last we had our first defeat in the league away to Doohamlet. The conditions were difficult with Shane Carey getting Scotstown off the mark with two points but by the end of the first quarter Doohamlet hit 1-3 and carried the advantage right through the match as the home side went in at the break 2-4 to 5pts up. In the 2nd half Doohamlet extended their lead to six but to their credit Scotstown did reduce Doohamlet’s six point lead on two separate occasions and when a goal was required from an injury time free, a point was the end result, however, Scotstown did put in a spirited effort right to the final whistle but in the end it was Doohamlet who got the league points on a final score of 2-11 to 1-12. Team: Cian Mohan; Padraig Keenan; William Carroll: Damien McArdle (0-1); Barry McMeel; James Turley; Mark Treanor; Michael McCarville; Francis Caulfield; Eddie Beggan; Shane Carey (0-7); Brian McGinnity (1-0); Dermot McCrudden; Nicholas Corrigan; Paul Grant (0-2). Paul Sherlock was top marksman registering 1-5, Scotstown were behind at the interval by 10pts to 1-3, and the home side was still 4pts clear with 5mins left when Mark McDevitt scored an important goal and an injury time free left us sharing the spoils in the end.
