Minors:
To date the Minors have being playing great football by stepping up to the mark and winning matches with strong performances. Their last encounter was a real test for them when they beat Latton one of the form teams in the competition by 1 point in what was a very physical match. On Tuesday night they played Aughnamullen.
Seniors:
Corduff V Carrickmacross:
The Seniors were in competitive action twice last week. First up on Wednesday evening neighbours Carrickmacross made the short trip out to Corduff. As local derbies go this one was guaranteed to be feisty and hugely competitive from start to finish with cousins playing against cousins and neighbours playing against neighbours. The first half was a low scoring affair with Corduff registering the first point after a minute. Despite the fact that Corduff had most of the possession in the first quarter by the interval Carrick were marginally ahead on a score line of 0-5 to 0-2. Carrick were first off the blocks in the second half but Corduff registered 2 smashing goals in the ninth minute which brought them right back into the game putting them ahead by a point. As could be expected there were a couple of flare ups which were really nothing more than handbags.However Carrick kept the pressure on and by the final whistle won on a score line of Carrick 1-10 to 2-04.
Corduff V Sean McDermotts;
On Sunday Corduff were in action again this time away to Sean McDermotts . With some players injured Corduff started without the regular 15. Corduff registered a score after just 30 seconds but the next one wasn’t until the 10th minute. Despite having plenty of possession and creating goal chances the tally of wides continued to increase. However by the interval Corduff were ahead 1-04 to 1-02.
In the second half Corduff played deep defending football driving forward and by the 18th minute both teams were level on a score line of 2-04. With all to play for in the last quarter Seans dominated play winning by 2 points at the final whistle denying Corduff of 2 more valuable League points.
