We travelled to Gavin Duffy Park on Sunday morning last and collected a very welcome brace of points at the expense of the locals. After coming up short on the precious two outings this victory was most welcome in order to retain an interest in the competition. It was certainly pleasing for managers Leo and Johny to have 20 players at their disposal. Over the past season it was the lack of playing power at this level that was most concerning. It takes goals to win games  and so was the case on Sunday with 2 superb strikes from Kevin Crawley and one from Sean McDonald and Stephen McMahon.
 Under 16
The u16’s had their 1st win of the year in the league with a hard fought win over Eire og….Eire og raced into a 3 point lead early on, but Killanny responded well and led by 1-7 0-4 at half time, aided by an excellently taken penalty by Eddie Walsh.Eire og started the better in the second half and reduced the deficit to 2, but Killanny finished strongest and a goal by Conor Grimes with 6 minutes left was the breathing space Killanny needed.A good performance on the night by the lads, with a man of the match performance in goals by Ciaran Mcconnon, helped in no small way by his full backs, the two Shane’s,Gartlan and Finnegan,Eddie Walsh and Dean Connolly in midfield more than held their own while Daniel Leegan was his usual industrious self, while the only reason Tommy Byrne didn’t feature on the goalscorers list was a wonder save from Eire og’s goalkeeper…..final score Killanny 2-10 Eire Og 1-8

Juveniles
Our U12 team played their second Spring league game at Pairc Eanna on Saturday past  against an Oram side who were missing a number of regulars. The Killanny boys came away with the spoils and in doing so continued their good start to the year. Playing with the wind in the opening third of the game the Killanny boys got off to a flying start with scores from Oisin Burns, Kyle Connolly, Ciaran Walsh and David Leegan, while John Gartlan and Cian Burns were their usual busy selves. The Oram attack got little joy from the Killanny defence where Ciaran O’Reilly, James Finnegan and Dara O’Shea were on top along with a man of the match performance from the energetic Jack Guinan. Mark Lambe was secure  between the posts and his kickouts were the start for many of the KIllanny attacks.
The start off the second third seen Killanny ring the changes with the introduction off the tight marking Cillian McConnon to defence and Mickey Grimes to midfield where he competed well. Tomas Gartlan and Ciaran Finnegan were introduced to the attack, where both were quick to announce their arrival by kicking scores.
The third quarter was somewhat disappointing from a Killanny viewpoint with our play becoming very ragged and careless. While the team was happy with the win they are well aware that there will be tougher tests in the weeks ahead.
