Boys Under 14s’: The Under 14s’ had their third outing of the season on Saturday last when they made the trip to Doohamlet. Again this young team gave a good account of themselves, but a disastrous second quarter when the conceded a number of soft goals left them fighting an uphill battle the rest of the way. Try as they did after that, they could not bridge the gap as a well drilled Doohamlet defence kept them at arm’s length. In the end a 7 point defeat was probably a scant reward for their endeavours. Saturday’s panel was Michael Cadden,Ryan Corley,Darragh Hamill,Robert Haynes,Donal Leonard,Kian McAree,Nathan McCabe,Kyle McAree,Dillon McCaffery,Leon McCabe,Stephen McCluskey,Jamie McMahon,Adam Murtagh,Brendan Reilly and Caine Toal.

Girls Under 14s’: The Under 14 girls had their second outing in the 2014 league on Thursday evening last when the made the trip to Rooskey to play Monaghan Harps. It was a slightly depleted Eire Og team that took the field through injuries. Both teams launched early attacks with our girls taking the lead in the 4th minute with a well taken goal. However they were rocked back on their heels over the next five minutes with the Harps’ girls grabbing three goals. Although things looked dire at this stage our girls held their nerve and fought their way back into the game with a couple of goals of their own in the 13th and 16th minutes. From then until the half-time whistle Eire Og outscored the Harps 1-4 to 1-1 to leave the half-time score Harps 4-2 Eire Og 4-5. The second half began with the home team going all out on the offensive but scores were hard to come by as the Eire Og defense held firm. By the 12th minute however Monaghan were back on level terms and it looked like an uphill battle for our girls as the Harps were able to introduce a number of fresh legs, but from somewhere the Eire Og girls found the energy to actually dominate the rest of the game territory wise. Some resolute Harps’ defending kept the Eire Og girls at bay, but they were able to outscore the home team in this period by the odd point to leave the final score Monaghan Harps 5-6(21) Eire Og 4-10(22). The team on duty was Rachel Corley,Caoimhe Smith,Katie Monahan,Laura Hughes,Siobhain Smith,Maeve Monahan,Hannah Hughes,Ciara Smith,Fearne Monahan,Kirsty McAree and Ruth Douglas. Next game is at home to St.Brigids on Mon. April 28th at 6:45pm.
