Boys Under 14s’: Eire Og had their second outing in their Under 14 League on Saturday last against Clontibret in Railway Park. Played in ideal conditions this turned out to be a thriller from start to finish. The first quarter saw both defenses very much on top and at the end of the fifteen minutes Clontibret were in front by 0-3 to 0-2. It was more of the same in the second period with little to choose between the sides and the visitors were still leading by one point at the half-time break. The third period saw Eire Og play their best football of the afternoon and a succession of well taken scores saw them lead comfortably at the end of three. However between the third and seventh minute of the final quarter the wheels came off the wagon for the Eire Og lads with the concession of three goals. Eire Og did regain the lead again as the game entered its final three minutes but following a rather harsh decision resulting in a Clontibret free which led to a goal the Eire Og boy’s gallant effort just fell short. Final score Eire Og 5-13 Clontibret 7-8. All in all a brave and whole-hearted display from this young under 14 team. The panel on duty on Saturday were Kyle McAree,Dillon McCaffrey,Kian McAree,Brendan Reilly,Caine Toal,Donal Leonard,Darragh Hamill,Leon McCabe,Stephen McCluskey,Jamie McMahon,Nathan McCabe,Michael Cadden,Adam Murtagh,Oisin McElroy,Robert Haynes and Ryan Corley

Playing into a strong breeze in the first half Eire Og found themselves in arrears 2-1 to 0-2 at half-time. On the turnaround Eire Og dominated for long periods but could not convert their possession into numbers on the scoreboard and came up just short at the end.
