Senior Team – The Senior team got there opening points of the Senior League last Wednesday evening in a very entertaining match against Latton, in front of a large crowd, at home in is St. Marys Park. A couple of early points by Dermot Malone and David Mc Mahon helped settle the Faughs and after the opening twenty minutes they lead by four points to no score, but a strong Latton response saw them regain control to draw the game before half time. The second half saw the continuation of some excellent defending by both sides and with 10 minutes to go, the game remained a draw before Keith Hill followed by fellow substitute Mark Hanratty opened up a two point margin, which the Faugh never looked like giving up. Further points by Hanratty, Hill and Fergal Malone saw the Faughs run out worthy winners. Next Senior League game is an away match to top of the table Ballybay on Wednesday 30th of April with a throw in time of 7.45pm.
Reserve Team – The reserve team are down to play a home game against Drumhown on Wednesday 23rd of April in St. Marys Park with a 7.30pm throw in. (Check the website for result). Next up for the reserve team is their Championship opener against Monaghan Harps in Monaghan on the 4th of May at 2pm. The next league match will be a home game against Ballybay in St. Marys Park on the 21st of May.
Minor Team – The Minor team travelled to Innsikeen last Tuesday evening and put in a good hours work but unfortunately came out the wrong side of a one point defeat. We have a home fixture this Tuesday evening against Tyholland (Check web site for result) with Patrick Emmett’s being our opposition on Tuesday 29th of April away in Aghabog at 7.30pm.
Under 16 Boys – The Boys play Clones this Thursday the 24th of April at 7pm, with an opening win against Killeavin, the lads will hope to continue their early season form. We have a rearranged match against Tyholland on Saturday the 26th of April at 1.30pm, before we entertain Toome in St. Marys Park on the 1st of May at 7.15pm.
Under 16 Girls – This Friday (April 25th) sees the U16 Girls travel to play Emyvale. Players are asked to assemble at the football field at 5:45 PM
Under 14 Boys –The boys entertained Latton last Saturday at home in a glorious sun drenched St. Marys Park. The young Faughs team showed right from the off that they were determined to get a win, with some really free flowing football being displayed. The boys got on top early on and a couple of Robbie Hanratty goals set the team up for a comprehensive win. Best on the day for the Faughs were Craig Callan, Stephen Beattie and Robbie Hanratty. The lad’s next fixture is an away trip to Sean Mc Dermott’s on Saturday 3rd of May at 12 o clock.
Under 14 Girls – The U14 girls were defeated by Aughnamullen last Thursday evening. The girls were slow to start and conceded a few very early goals. As the first half progressed the girls then settled, playing some great football and scoring some fine points along the way. The second half saw the girls display the renowned faughs “never say die” spirit and commitment, producing some excellent football at times. These girls continue to improve with every game they play, and in only their second competitive season continue to progress, playing in a higher division. We await confirmation of the next Fixture for the U14 team.
Under 12 Boys –The boys are down to play Donaghmoyne this Saturday morning in St Marys Park, first up will be the development team with throw in at 12pm, they will be followed by the Senior Team who play at 1.15pm.
Under 12 Girls – The U12 Girls community games team completed their fixtures last week with a fine win over a spirited Aughnamullen side. This now completes this series of games for these girls and they now await the commencement of the U12 competition in May.
Under 8 and Under 10 – The last of our Juvenile teams got into action last Saturday morning, when Monaghan Harps held the first of this year’s Go Games .With a huge number of players, the wee Faughs travelled with great excitement as Saturday was the first time that many would put on the the Famous Green and Gold Jersey. The Boys and Girls were a credit to both their parents and the Clubs with all teams performing very well against Carrickmacross, Latton , Monaghan Harps and Cremartin in the matches . What was very pleasing from a Club perspective was the large number of parents who attended the matches. Well done to everyone.
Juvenile Training – There will be no Under 6 and Under 8 this Thursday night, both will return on Thursday 1st of May.
Best of Luck – The Club would like to wish the County Senior Team all the best this week in the Division two final in Croke Park. The Club will be represented by Club Captain Dermot Malone and School Coach Marty McElroy. Hopefully they can continue to take more Silverware back to the County.
