New Stand – The Club were delighted to open the new 2,000 seater stand last week to the paying public for the Senior League match versus Sctotstown. As expected there was a large crowd from both clubs with everyone very impressed with our new facility. It was really great to see such a large turnout and hopefully we continue to get as many Patrons to visit St. Marys Park for our league matches during the year. Well done and thank you to the gang of over 70 Members, Juveniles and Senior Players who all turned up on Friday evening to wash everything for the opening of the stand, it turned out to be a great evenings’ fun.
Club Registration Day – Last Saturday saw the Club hold their registration day in St. Marys Park with the doors opening from 3pm. The Club were delighted with the response with nearly all the players , parents , coaches and social members appearing at some stage to pay their registration fees for the year. We were delighted to see a number of new people come in to register as Club members for the first time, well done to everyone involved. If you were unable to attend on Saturday can you pay your membership to any committee member, remember that you must be a fully paid up member to be part of the GAA Insurance Scheme.
Senior Team – The Senior team opened up their League campaign with a disappointing defeat at home to Scotstown. A good first half performance saw the Faughs go in a point in front, but the second half saw Scotsown dominate the opening fifteen minutes as they notched up a number of scores to open a gap which they never looked like surrendering. The boys have a chance to get off the mark this Wednesday night (Results on Website) when they play Latton at home in St. Marys Park at 7.15pm.

Under 16 Boys – The Boys opened their Division three campaign with a good all round team performance versus Killeavin last Thursday evening .The first period was a tight affair with the Faughs just getting a couple of vital goals before half time to open up a gap. The second half saw a much improved Blayney side, we had some very good displays from Evan Cumiskey, Killian Brennan and Kyle Plummer. This Thursday night we have a Bye so the next game will be a home game in St. Marys Park against Clones on Thursday 24th of April at 7pm.
Under 16 Girls – The girls entertained Inniskeen last Thursday night in Blackhill in what was their first ever Under 16 fixture. As expected, the girls took some time to adjust to playing the game and a well drilled Inniskeen team led comfortably at half time .The second half saw a dramatic transformation by the young Faughs ladies, with each and every one of them playing their part in a great come back to see the bare minimum between the teams when the final whistle was blown . The girls showed real heart and determination to pull themselves back into the game and there is no doubt that Dev would have been proud of them all. There is no competitive fixture this week.
Under 14 Boys – It was a free weekend from competitive fixtures last weekend for the boys so we took the opportunity to play Cremartin in a challenge game, the boys performed well throughout the game. This Saturday we have a top of the table clash with Latton in St. Marys Park, throw in at 12pm. We encourage as many of you to get out and see the boys as possible, they are playing some lovely football.

Under 12 Boys – With no competitive fixtures last weekend, the team travelled down to Cullyhanna for a challenge game. This match that saw two teams of similar capability providing an excellent game of football. The management team received some nice praise after the match for the way the boys played and behaved on the pitch during the games, with the Cullyhanna people impressed with the determination and skills of the young Faughs team. We have no competitive game this weekend, the Management team will outline the Easter plans at training during the week. Next competitive fixture for the boys will be against Donaghmoyne on Saturday 26th of April.
Under 12 Girls – The Community games team played Kilanny last week with the girls showing all the grit, determination and skill of all the young Faughs teams, it should be remembered that this is a young Blayney team and they are playing teams in a higher division so to be competing so well at this stage of the year is great. We played well throughout but unfortunately went down by four points. Best on the day for the young Blayney girls were Shonagh Brady, Aine McGlynn, Melissa Carr with Kaitlin Collins excellent again in goals. The Girls played their last fixture in the community games against Aughnamullen on Monday night and had a comfortable victory, well done to each of the girls who have shown good skill improvements over the last few weeks.
Under 8 and Under 10 – The last of our Juvenile teams get started this Saturday morning with a double blitz of Go Games in Monaghan Harps. The Boys will gather in the field at 9am to travel down to the games, we will play Carrickmacross, Latton , Monaghan Harps and Cremartin in the matches. Can we ask as many parents as possible to travel down to the game, we would also ask the parents to make sure that the boys are wearing gum shields and have a bottle of water with them. Well done to the Under 10 Team who entertained the large crowd on Saturday evening at half time with a game among themselves. These boys showed that they have the makings of another great Faughs team in the future.
