Cadbury’s Ulster Under-21 Football Championship Quarter-Final
Monaghan v Down, Wednesday, 8.00, Inniskeen
Páirc Grattan is the venue for Monaghan’s Ulster U-21 FC quarter-final against Down on Wednesday night.
Monaghan failed to get out of the group stage of the Shamrock Cup after beating Louth but losing to Antrim and Tyrone, but they will be positive about their chances of progressing in the championship with a team boasting six senior panellists and a sprinkling of players from last year’s Ulster MFC winners and the 2012 Ulster minor runners-up. Monaghan haven’t won this competition since 1999, although they took eventual winners Cavan to extra-time last year.
Monaghan can call on players like Thomas Kerr, Ryan Wylie, Pádraic Keenan, Conor Boyle, Paudie and Christopher McKenna and Johnny McGuigan, while Darragh O’Hanlon, Declan Turley, Ryan Johnston, Shane Harrison and Ruairí Lively will be expected to lead Down’s challenge.
