Reserves: Our C team had a good workout against Blackhill B team in the first league game of 2014 on Saturday evening in Blackhill. However the Emyvale team put in an excellent second half outscoring Blackhill 0:07 to 1:01. Handball: Hard luck to Darren Doherty who was narrowly defeated by Conor Mc Elduff, Tyrone in the U21 Ulster Singles Championship Final on Saturday last. He lost the first game 21 – 13 then battled hard to take the second 21 – 17 to force a tie breaker which he lost 10 -2. This match lasted two & a half hours & produced some great rallies with both players giving their all. Darren has three more years in this age group so it was a great achievement for him to reach the final.

History: For the first time ever in Emyvale, a minor team was entered in county competition in 1950 as well as a junior team. The junior team reached the county championship semi-final but it was the minor team that brought success to the club when they won the Minor Championship defeating Killevan, Clontibret, Clones & Castleblayney on their way to victory. That team was: Sean Finn, J. J. Mc Meel, Kevin O’Neill, Mick Kelly (Captain), Jim Smyth, Aiden Quinn, Mel Mc Kenna, Sean Hendry, Gerard Smith, Tom Mc Gettrick, Raphael Mc Kenna, Pat Mc Kenna, Mickey Byrne, Peadar Mc Geough, Pat Treanor, John Corrigan & Raymond Mc Gettrick. That was the first team to wear the black & white strip. For some strange reason, it was decided to affiliate the team to senior football in 1951 & 1952 but they had little success. In 1952 senior, junior, minor & U14 teams played in county competition & the U14 team won the County Championship. That team was: Kevin Forde, Mick Corrigan, Patsy Forde, Mickey Mc Kenna, Seamus Campbell, Cyril Kerr, Philly Brady, Packie Hughes, Micheal Kilroy, Gerard Quinn, Patsy Mc Quaid, Mick Sweeney, Kevin Majnone, Oliver Fields & Martin Kilroy.
