Juvenile Presentation / Registration Evening: Well done to The Juvenile Committee on hosting a most successful Presentation and Registration evening last Friday in The Community Centre. A full hall meant there was a great buzz in the air before the event kicked off. The Ulster silverware on display glittered in the distance and had young children dreaming that one day they might be lifting one of the cups in an Ulster Final. Juvenile Chairperson Sean Rafferty addressed the crowd by welcoming everybody especially county representatives Tommy Freeman, Padraic Keenan, Laura McEnaney and Barbara Ward. Sean proceeded to brief everyone on the function of the Juvenile Committee while thanking the Corduff Gaels Senior Community for giving them the opportunity and support to set up this Committee to put structures in place to cater for the increasing numbers at the Juvenile end of the club. Sean thanked all their sponsors and Mary Woods was presented with a bouquet of flowers as a token for all her hard work and dedication while working with the Juveniles over the last few years. Medals were presented to U14s, U15s and U16s.
Light refreshments were served and at the back of the hall team mentors were busy registering members for the coming season. The Corduff Ladies Committee was also present and delighted to get a few new recruits. It’s not too late to register with either the Juvenile or the Ladies Club.
Saturday morning training has commenced for U12s and will be up and running from U6s to U12 from Sat March 22nd.
Reserve League: Corduff opened their competitive season with a Reserve match against Donaghmoyne last Saturday. In what was a breezy afternoon the wind was definitely not blowing in Corduff’s favour. Donaghmoyne started as they meant to continue. They opened the scoring and in the 3rd minute rattled the net twice. Corduff found it hard to reduce this lead with Donaghmoyne finishing convincing winners. The Reserves are in action again this weekend when they’re away to Rockcorry on Sunday at 2:30. Please support.
County Teams: Padraic Keenan and the Monaghan Senior team had an emphatic win over Louth in Clones on Sunday putting 2 more vital points on the League Table. They’re away to Armagh this Saturday at 7pm. Don’t forget tickets bought in advance are only €10!
Barbara Ward and the Monaghan Senior Ladies team registered their first defeat of the season by being beaten by Kerry in Inniskeen on Sunday.
Ladies:
Registration: The Ladies Committee was present at The Juvenile Presentation/Registration Evening last Friday and we were delighted to register some new recruits. It’s not too late to register so if you have a daughter from U12 up who would like to play competitive Ladies football don’t hesitate to contact a Committee member. U14 & U16 training commenced this week so once again if interested contact a Committee member.
Senior League: Senior competitive action commences this Sunday with Round 1 of The Division 2 League. Corduff make the trip to Sean McDermotts for throw-in at 12noon. As always we wish management and the ladies good luck and all support would be appreciated.
Wedding Bells: Congratulations to club member Fiona Patton and Padraic Keenan who tied the knot last Saturday. Best wishes for a long and happy future together.
