BAWN HANDBALL

Bawn handball , No luck in the county championship’s for our adult players this year but the doubles are coming up so all hope is not lost.!  We have a all Bawn final in the county minors this Fri with Eugene mc Geough taking on Gavin Coyle.  Gavin is in action again on Sunday in the u17s Ulster championship in kingscourt, he played in the all-ireland college’s finals last Saturday where he was unfortunately defeated by all-ireland champion fergal coughlan.  Well done to Eugene also who got to the minor Ulster final a few weeks ago ,he had a hard battle on his hands with Johnny woods from Tyrone,  and on the day Johnny proved too strong.   Eugenes brother Ben had his first and no doubt not last taste of a final when in the cumann na bunscoil county final he lost out narrowly to monaghan opposition,  well done Ben.! Our juvenile league is underway and if any other players want to play its not too late, training @ 6 every Saturday.  We are running a Killian mc Elroy memorial handball blitz over st Patrick’s weekend and hope players from all clubs will attend,  more details to follow.  We have GAA club draw tickets for sale with fabulous prizes too be won, tickets 10€ from any club member with all money going to the club.

HARPS HANDBALL

A busy week lies ahead for many of our players.  We have 14 representatives at Sunday’s Ulster Juvenile Semifinals to be held in Kingscourt and Gortnamona, Belfast.  Ten boys will compete at the Cavan venue while 4 girls travel to Belfast.  Congratulations to Viktorija Kaklauskaite who came from 9-0 down in her quarterfinal to secure a place in the semis.  Martin Mullen also progressed to the semifinals with his doubles partner James Mc Cague.  The full list of Harps players is as follows: U 12 Singles: Eoghan Mc Ginnity; Under 12 Doubles: Tiernan O’Rourke and Deivydas Kaklauskas; U 13 Singles: Jakub Szkup; U 13 Doubles: Konrad Kowal and Conor Myles; U 14 Singles Justas Dambinskas; U 14 Doubles: Cailean Myles and Hubert Sheinbach; U 16 Doubles: Martin Mullen; U 13 Singles Girls : Viktorija Kaklauskaite; U 13 Doubles: Gabriele Minkstimaite and Megija Jurgita; Under 14 Singles: Neda Pasakinskaite.  Good luck to all.  While most of the boys are confident of progressing to the finals, the girls will find it difficult to progress any further as they are relatively new to the game.  Play begins at 10.30 am at both venues.
Conor Mc Donnell teamed up with Paul Cassidy to progress to the Ulster Golden Masters B Final and this pairing is capable of winning the title.
During the week we welcomed Ben Devlin from O’Raghallaigh Club in Drogheda.  He played (and beat !) all of our top young players.  The Ulster finals in the Cumann na mBunscol competition were cancelled due to the weather and have been refixed for either 26th or 27th of February at the same Donegal venues of Glenfinn and Ballybofey.  Please check with your school.
