Corduff Notes

February 10th, 2014

Juveniles: After a busy season in 2013 the Juvenile Presentation and Registration Evening is on Friday March 7th. More details to follow so watch this space.

Monaghan March On! Two clubmen were in action over the weekend. Martin McNally officiated as the man in the middle at the Junior All Ireland Club Final where there were goals galore. Padraic Keenan was once again in action on the Monaghan team which gave Meath a roasting in Clones on Sunday. Padraic who played as a sweeper helped form a defensive line which Meath found hard to break. With 3 points on the board Monaghan  will be ready for  the challenge of Donegal in 3 weeks.

Reminders: Mouthguards/gumshields: Gaelic footballers at all grades must wear mouthguards from Jan 1st 2014. It is the responsibility of each individual player to use a mouthguard. A properly fitted mouthguard is the best available protective device for reducing the incidence and severity of dental injuries.

Membership: Membership is now overdue for renewal. There is a family rate of €100 which is worth checking out.

Ladies:  At a well attended meeting last Friday which was attended by both parents and players the following Committee was formed. Chairperson Declan Kernan, Secretary Mary McEneaney, Assistant Secretary Louise McGivney, Treasurer Ann McMahon, Assistant Treasurer Joan Farrelly, Children’s Officer Mary Woods, Joint PROs Nimh Callan and Hannah Finegan. Committee members are as follows : Grainne Cassidy, Mary Callan, Briege Comiskey, Peter Byrne, Ann Brennan, Joanne Cunnigham, Gerry Reilly and Mary Finegan. It is very encouraging to see new members on board for the 2014 season and we wish everyone involved with the Ladies Club good luck for the season.

Monaghan Ladies: It was success all round for Monaghan at the weekend as the Senior Ladies had a very convincing win over Laois in Inniskeen on Sunday. Corduff was represented on the team by Barbara Ward so well done!

Congratulations to Truagh GFC on bringing the Intermediate All-Ireland club title to Monaghan after a fantastic win over Kilmane making it the second time for this title to be won by a club in the county.
