Largy College U19 Gaelic football squad clinched the VEC County title for the second year in a row, defeating a determined Ballybay College team who will have left Smithborough disappointed with the start they made to the game. The scoreline may have suggested that this was a comfortable win for the Largy boys, but this was definitely not the case. Ballybay had fought back well to reduce the deficit to the minimum with the game entering the final two minutes, before Largy bagged a goal and tagged on a few points to seal the victory. It was a very entertaining game played with passion and intensity by both sides and they must be given great credit for this. Largy now advance to the Ulster quarter-final where we will face a well organised Virginia team who have a large representation on the Cavan VEC team that defeated the Monaghan VEC team in Early December. Congratulations to Mr O’Reilly and the entire squad, hopefully it won’t be the last piece of silverware this team will lift this year.
