Conor & Lucy Mc Donald
Pictured is father and daughter hand balling duo Conor & Lucy Mc Donald.  Lucy plays for Emyvale and has just won the county under 15 championship by defeating Niamh Fullen from St. Mellans in an exciting final. Lucy now progresses to compete in the Ulster championships. Lucy has learned her skills from her father Conor who plays for the Harps. Conor has also just won a county title by defeating his club mate Martin “The Master” Mc Entee in the golden masters championship. We’d like to wish both Conor and Lucy the best of luck in the Ulster Championships.

HARPS HANDBALL
With the Ulster championships 2014  just around the corner, our players are busy in preparation.  Ramunas will play Eugene Mc Geough or Niall Allison in Tydavnet on Sunday, January 26th. Terry Mc Elvaney will play either Jim Cunningham or Martin Toner in Armagh also on January 26th.  Conor Mc Donnell will play Jim or Pat Maguire in Saval on Saturday February 1st.  Conor is in excellent form at present and recently won the County Golden Masters singles title in a repeat of last’s years final against clubmate Martin Mc Entee. On this occasion the match was won by Conor with some clinical killshots in the deciding game. The scores were as follows: 21-18, 15-21, 21-12.  Martin will meet Antrim’s Tony Caddell in the Emerald A Semifinal in Saval on Saturday, February 8th.  This is a repeat of the Ulster final in 2013 which Caddell won over 2 games. However expect a much closer result this time.
The Ulster championships for juvenile players will also begin shortly so it is imperative that the County Juvenile Doubles pairings be decided on soon.  We have entered the following county combinations:
Tiernan O’Rourke and Deivydas Kaklauskas; James Allen and Ailandas Jocys; Sean Callan and Lukas Virsilas; Conor Myles and Konrad Kowal; Gabriela Minskimaite and Megija K;  Cailean Myles and Hubert Sheinbach; Martin Mullen and Mohammad Sultan.  If any of the named players is unavailable to play over the next 2 weekends please let the club know so that replacements can be chosen.
The Challenger 1 club leagues are progressing well with up to 20 boys and girls competing in three sections.  Nedas Guoga is unbeaten so far and newcomer Mike Bradley is catching up on the others.  Another newcomer to watch out for is Jordan Bradley.
