As many clubs will now have their executive committees in place following their AGMs, newly appointed officers may interested in attending the Ulster GAA New Officer Training Day. This will take place on Saturday 18th January from 10am to 1pm at Holy Trinity College Cookstown. This training offers club officers the chance to learn about key roles and responsibilities of their position. Officers who have been in place for a year or more can attend also if they haven’t done so previously, furthermore attendance at this training is also a requirement for any club hoping to achieve Club Maith Accreditation.
Workshops to be delivered on the day (Cookstown) will be:
- Chairperson
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- PRO
- Development Officer
- Children’s Officer
- Coaching Officer
- Culture Officer
Following on from the Provincial event, a Club Officer Development Course will once again be held in every county in Ulster to ensure club officers have all necessary information for their roles and tasks in 2014. The Monaghan event will take place in Monaghan Training Centre, in Cloghan on Tuesday the 11th of February. The half-day session aims to provide club officers with all essential information for the year ahead. This year each county has been asked to select four workshops from a bank of twenty to ensure that the content delivered will be of the most relevance to their clubs. These four workshops were selected from six different themes; club development, governance, communications, health, volunteer development, culture and language. In addition this all counties will have a Child Protection Workshop delivered to update volunteers on any changes in legislation or GAA Rule.
Clubs should note that not only will these training opportunities build the capacity and knowledge of their volunteers, it is also a requirement for Club Maith accreditation.
