Nollaig Shona agus Ath Bliain faoi Mhaise to all our members, supporters and sponsors. Thank you for all your hard work and support during the year without which our successful season would not have been possible. These truly are great days for our club; we are represented on all juvenile development squads, Minor, Under 21, Senior and ladies teams for the county. It’s been a phenomenal year for us a club and we look forward to an equally challenging and successful season in 2014. The opportunity of more silverware is always welcome too, although it will be hard to improve on this year’s tally of five county titles. At this time of year, as we raise a glass of good cheer and welcome home our friends and family for the festive season, we hope everyone has a great time and wish you all a very happy Christmas and everything that’s good for the New Year. Stay safe and protected on any journeys you take over the season. A big hello to our members, family and friends that won’t be home this Christmas, you too are in our thoughts and prayers this season.
Shop Local: we’d encourage our members to shop local and support our sponsors this Christmas, they’re our first port of call during the year for support and funds to aid in the running of the club. Support the local businesses that support the area and community where we live, work and play.
Mary’s Meals Mile: There’s a walk around St Tiarnach’s park after 11:30 mass this coming Sunday. Support if you can, every single cent raised goes to school children in Malawi and those less fortunate than us.
Jason McArdle: The annual Jason McArdle tournament takes place the day after Stephen’s Day, Friday 27th December. This is always a great day’s fun, the perfect way to shake off the excesses of Christmas and St. Stephen’s day. Register your name with Ross Adamson on 0866040802 and stay tuned to Facebook for more details closer the time.
It’s not too late: to send your Christmas list to Finty K and the rest of the county team who took the opportunity to head off to Macy’s and Woodbury common for some last minute shopping. I can just see them now, walking around Time Square thinking they’re Paul Galvin. Joking aside this is a well earned break and just reward for the lads after a long season, they deserve all that comes their way after giving us a season to remember for many years to come.
U-16’s Largy lose out in County Final: This team is made of representatives from Clones, Aghabog, Killevan, Currin and Eire Og. In what was a very competitive game ebbing and flowing giving both sides scoring chances. Largy were on top for most of the first half but an Inver goal just before halftime gave Inver a lead that Largy wouldn’t be able to reel back. Largy just came up short in the end with only a score in it. The lads were understandably very disappointed after the game but gave their all and they’ve played well all year and you’ll learn a lot more about yourselves losing finals sometimes than winning them. Final score Largy 2:10 Inver College Carrickmacross 3:10.
Largy U-18’s played their county final against Ballybay on Tuesday last securing a fantastic victory and now go on to represent Monaghan in Ulster. Final score 3:13 to 1:12.
