Scotstown completed a senior double for the first time in 20 years when they won the Drumlin Group of Credit Unions Senior Football League Final at home to Magheracloone on Sunday. Magheracloone made a flying start, led by Damien Freeman, who top-scored with 1-5, but goals by Kieran Hughes and Conor McCarthy had Scotstown within two points by half-time (1-7 to 2-2) and they took after the restart, with nine players getting on the scoresheet.

Truagh and Currin will contest the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League Final on November 24 after they won Sunday’s semi-finals. Truagh finished strongly to defeat 14-man Donaghmoyne, with the crucial goal scored by Paudie McKenna, while Currin needed extra-time to get past Inniskeen. Both teams found the net three times in a thriller – two by Jack McCarron (who amassed 2-9) and one by Niall McEntee for Currin and one each by Dónal and Paul Meegan and Gerard McArdle for Inniskeen. Paul Meegan’s late equaliser gave Inniskeen a shot at extra-time, but the following ten minutes saw Currin hit an unanswered 1-3 to set the foundation for their win.

The results mean that Currin join championship winners Truagh in making a quick return to senior football, due to them having finished second in the league table.
