                                                                                  Sean’s Notes

Adult team.   Our adult squad’s long awaited semi-final league clash with Blackhill takes place on Saturday next 19th in Blackhill at 4.00pm.  The Emeralds hold sway in their meetings so far this season, but they no doubt are smarting from their failure last weekend to claim championship honours and with home advantage will be an even tougher nut to crack and in no mood to have their season ended at this penultimate stage.  Likewise for our boys the extra couple of weeks will have given Manager Adrian Larkin and his management team the opportunity to iron out those little things that didn’t go their team’s way when last they met. Hopefully our supporters will travel in big numbers to give the team the encouragement they deserve; they can be assured our boys will be focus on the job in hand, a place in the final… against Oram.  Saturday, Blackhill, 4.00pm!

Best wishes. Best wishes for a speedy return to full fitness goes to James Treanor, James was in sizzling form this season until a serious knee injury curtailed his on field activity. This week he undergoes surgery to repair that damages, we hope his stay in hospital is short he recovers quickly and is back in the thick of the action early in the new season.

Spraoi Scor. This year’s Spraoi Scor take place in Sean Mc Dermotts Sports Complex this Friday night 18th October, curtains open at 7 o’ clock. Both St Mary’s and St Michael’s National Schools are well represented; taking part in four categories: Ceili Dancing, Solo Singing, Instrumental Music and Question Time. We wish them every success, after all their hard work and practice over the last few weeks.Your support on the night would be greatly appreciated.

Cultural Night: Our monthly Traditional Irish Music session took place last Friday. Since we were also hosting a Trad for Trócaire event, it was terrific to see such a large number come out in support of this very worthy cause. What a wide range of talent we had. It’s so encouraging to see our younger musicians grow in confidence and experience, and be able to deliver such terrific entertainment. These youngsters need to be heard to be believed! In addition, we had our Scór Céile Dancers who, year on year, are going from strength to strength. This is on the back of all the hard work from Michele & Paula. And, a special thank you to Katie, who stepped up and sang beautifully. This is another young lady with a very bright future!                                                  Trad Sessions like these are a very valuable opportunity for these young people to hone their talent. It enables them to partake, to contribute, in a very relaxed, comfortable and family friendly environment. So, a huge thank you to all our local musicians, plus thank you to everyone who turned out from Newbliss, and Corcaghan & Monaghan C.C.É. branches.
Also, we’d like to thank everyone who donated spot prizes, a very grateful thank you to Monica, Bernie, Paula & Margot for the beautiful food & refreshments, and last but certainly not least, thank you all for your very generous donations, which have amounted to €240, and still counting… !      So remember to keep the 2nd Friday free, next session takes place on Friday 8th November. We look forward to seeing you all there. Refreshments served and everyone is welcome.
