Clones

By fmctiernan Wed 2nd Oct

Commiserations to Anita Newell and the Monaghan Ladies who lost out by the narrowest of margins in the All Ireland final on Sunday, as heartbreaking as a one point defeat can be the girls can hold their heads high and look back on what was achieved this year in all their previous games.  Be proud of these achievements, lick their wounds, let their hair down for a while and when the dust settles endeavour to do the same again and maybe go one better in  2014.  Thanks for the enjoyment, excitement and pride that you gave to each of us.  It’s been a great year for the Farney Army!

Executive Meeting; takes place this evening at 8pm in the Creighton, all executive members are requested to attend as this is the last meeting of the year.  The AGM is fixed for Saturday November 9th.

Seniors:  Disappointment on Sunday Morning against Cremartin.  The fulltime score of Cremartin 2-13 Clones 0-13 belies the full story that we were very much in this game throughout.  Scores were evenly matched throughout both halves, in fact the lads were two points up ten minutes into the second half but the goals for Cremartin came at bad times for our lads and Cremartin finished the stronger.  Team C.McCaughey, Ciaran Kelly, Eugene Holland, Micheal Treanor, Eoin Kelly, Fintan Kelly, Daragh Graham, Ethan Audley, Adrain Alford, Daragh Holland, Darren Freeman, David Freeman, Niall Nolan, Emmet McEntee, Cian O’Connor.  With Intermediate status all but secured for next season and a wee run in the championship the players and management can feel satisfied with this achievement and we look forward to next season with great hope, excitement and anticipation.

Minors: Sunday the 6th of October sees the highly anticipated clash of Doohamlet and St.Tiarnachs in the Division 3 Championship Final, the lads have worked exceptionally hard all year and we’re hopeful of a big performance.  Date and venue have yet to be decided for the Div3 league final as we await the outcome of the postponed Castleblaney Doohamlet semi –final.  I would encourage all of you to support this minor team, some of our current and future county stars are on this team.
