Lotto – There was no winner of the €1200 jackpot this week which was held on Monday night the 21st   of October 2013. The numbers drawn were 02, 05, 25, 26. The 4 lucky dips of €50 were Barbara McHugh, Castleblayney, Terry Duffy, Cairde, Pater Cairns, Cairde and Richard Irwin.  Congratulations to all this weeks’ winners and best of luck to everyone in next weeks’ draw for Jackpot €1300. Tickets can be purchased weekly as the Faughs Stall in the Glencarn Shopping Centre every Saturday.

Seniors – When news came through that Carrick were forfeiting their last two games,  it meant that last Saturdays games with Monaghan Harps would be the final fixture of 2013.  A bright opening for Blayney was undone as the Harps took over and lead by 3 at the interval.  The 2nd half however was different as a 3 goal salvo early in the half spurred Blayney on to a 3-11 to 0-4 victory.

Operation TransFaughsMation – We are now at the half way stage of Operation TransFAUGHSMation and there has been a marked step up in the intensity of training. Friday night saw a large crowd attend boxercise with Orla McCarthy, the class was a brilliant workout for everyone with Orla proving herself to be a hard task master as she pushed the participant’s through a number of exercises. Sunday morning as usual had another big turn out as everybody met at the field at 11am. The walkers/beginner runners used the track in St. Marys Park to complete their morning training session, while the more experienced seasoned runners went to complete a 5K out the Carrick road finishing off back at the field. Next Tuesday we are in the Glencarn again for circuits while Friday evening see Vincent Callaghan take the class for kickboxing.  Remember that an athlete cannot run with money in their pockets. They must run with hope in their hearts and dreams in their heads. Let’s keep it going.

Monaghan Integrated Development Achievement Awards – The club was very proud to be announced the winner of the “Healthy Initiative Category” at last nights’ Monaghan Integrated Development award ceremony in Iontas.  This award was in recognition of the clubs continued success with Operation TransFAUGHSmation and the annual 5K run held every December,  for getting the whole community involved in health and fitness and for fundraising for local charities.

Juvenile Training – Thursday night saw the start of the new 2014 season, with the under 6’s Under 8’s and Under 10 boys all attending the Faughs Winter Programme. The success of the club in the future will be based around the Juvenile Club and it’s quite clear at this point that we will have many great days ahead. With over 125 kids turning up over the two hours, they made sure that they kept the thirty or so coaches fully occupied. On Monday night we saw another huge crowd of girls turn up for training on the astro turf . Training continues this Thursday for the Under 6’s, Under 8’s and Under 10 boys while Girls football continues on Monday night. We are delighted to see some new faces, both children and parents, there is a great atmosphere at training so why not come along and experience it for yourself.

Coach Education –There is quite an amount of coaching course activity planned for November. Last week, there was a  coaching workshop for the Under 6 to Under 10 age groups while for those few coaches who have yet to complete their foundation or level 1  course,   there is an opportunity to do so over the next few weeks. For further information please give Keith Hanratty a call. Saturday 23rd of November will see the Monaghan Coaching Conference “Building on the Success” take place, further details are to be received over the next week so we will pass them onto you once we receive them.

Well done – Last week saw a number of the Clubs teenagers take part in Our Lady’s Secondary School show called The Wiz, it was great to see that we have talent on the stage as well as the pitch, well done to everyone involved for what was a very entertaining show.

Best of Luck – Next Monday is the day for the Dublin City Marathon. This year sees two new comers Denise Carey and Mark McEntee, take on the 26 mile course. It’s only a couple of short years ago that the pair entered Operation TransFAUGHSmation with the hope of improving their general fitness. We wish them both and all our other Club members well and we would ask you all to look after our Chairman Stephen “The Rocket” Dignam as he aims to complete his own personal best at yet another marathon.
