Lotto – results to follow in next weeks’ notes

Seniors – The Seniors are in league action this weekend with a trip to Scotstown at lunchtime on Saturday. Throw –in is at 1pm.

Minors – The Minor team season came to an abrupt end last Saturday evening after a home defeat to a much hungrier Doohamlet outfit, qualifying second in the table we had hoped that a home fixture would prove some advantage in our effort to make the league final but after an promising start,  the lads fell behind to a couple of quick goals and from then on the initiative was with the  men in blue.  Best on the night for the Faughs team was David Hughes in goals, Daniel McCarthy,  Mark Kelly and Brandon Rice . The Club would like to thank the management team of Gerry Smith and Ryan Comiskey and all the lads, unfortunately we could not maintain our early season form.

Operation TransFAUGHSmation – Last Sunday morning turned out to be a glorious days for the hikers of OPTFM with over 60 people donning their boots and gear to walk the 10 K around Ravensdale, with the sun beating down, the group were pushing themselves really hard to ensure that they could make it around  in time to travel to Croke Park to support the Monaghan Ladies, thankfully they all made it safely to Croke Park. This week circuits continued in the Glencarn on Tuesday night while tomorrow evening will see a novel new class called Jazzercise  taking place. On Sunday we will move out to the field for the walk/run/cycle at 11am. Well done to everyone so far, it really has been fantastic to see the effort been put in by everyone to date, let’s keep it going and keep supporting each other as we work towards the Supevalu Castleblayney 5K on December 1st.

All Ireland Ladies Finals – Last Sunday proved to be more heart break for Monaghan supporters as the ladies fell just short at the last hurdle.  Monaghan were slow to start but after half time they moved into top gear and entering the last quarter looked likely winners but alas the very experienced Cork team pulled the game out of the fire with a couple of  late points to leave the minimum between the two sides.  It was great to see such a large contingent of Faughs supporters travelling to Croke Park to support the ladies, with the Faughs ladies club getting off the ground over the last couple of years we would only hope that the County team will have a number of Faughs players in it some years down the road. Well done to the ladies for producing some great displays during the year and indeed for been an inspiration to the young Faughs girls.

Well done – This week the Club had yet another representative on the field at the All Ireland final, Chloe Liddy O’Connor was the referee between St. Broughans Offaly and Cookstown Fr. Rocks Tyrone Chloe has been a great addition to the Juvenile Club over the last few years, she started helping out with the Under 6’s  a few years ago and has since moved on to help train the Girls Under 12 and Under 14 teams while also completing referring courses . She is now a regular on the Monaghan Go Games and Juveniles Girls circuit. Well done Chloe an another milestone for you and the club.

Winter Programme – Parents please note that the Clubs winter programme will be starting again in mid-October as we get ready for 2014. Can we encourage you in the meantime to take a few minutes out every week to help practice the skills with your children. Remember, practice isn’t the thing you do when you’re good, it’s the thing you do that makes you good.
